No. 2 Ohio State vs No. 3 Michigan: Bet Against NCAA Football Spread for “The Game”

We all know the Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry is legendary, with the bitter enemies annually squaring off in the final game of the regular season. “The Game” is always a major event, but this season, it also has major implications for the CFP rankings as both teams are in the top 4.

Michigan and Ohio State enter Week 13 undefeated, with conference title and national championship aspirations. A loss on Saturday won’t automatically eliminate one of these teams from the CFP, but it certainly won’t make qualifying easy, as there are five undefeated teams in the nation.

For the first time in a long time, the Wolverines opened as NCAA football betting favorites against the Buckeyes, with the spread currently sitting at three points. It’s also unusual for a team ranked No.2 to be underdogs to the third-ranked team this late in the season.

Everything on the Line at the Big House

I don’t often make college football picks against the spread for games where so much is riding on each team’s victory. This game is about as close as you can get to a championship game as it gets. That is until the Big Ten title game where these two will likely face off again.

This is a game I’ve had circled for the whole season, and I felt pretty good about Michigan winning. That is, until the last two weeks. It’s not so much the fact that Jim Harbaugh will be watching this game from the minibar in his hotel suite but more how Michigan has looked in their last two games.

The Wolverines showed major vulnerabilities at tackle, and JJ McCarthy was on the run for much of the second half of the Maryland game. It was a game Michigan almost lost outright, mind you. JJ is still a better quarterback but will have to deal with Marvin Harrison Jr’s mix of size and speed on the opposite end. Maryland showed us a “good” passing attack can move the ball against Michigan, and Harrison is far more than just good.

But Harrison can’t do it alone. Michigan has the advantage at most skill positions, and I am willing to wager that it’s enough for Michigan to win this game. Still, I’m taking Ohio State to cover the NCAA football spread in a close and exciting game.

Questions Of The Day

Which defensive player is favored to contribute more than 2.5 sacks to their team?

Considering no player on either team has more than 5.5 sacks this season, it’s unreasonable to assume anyone will earn more than 2.5 on Saturday.

Which QB is the most likely to score a rushing touchdown?

Michigan’s JJ McCarthy is a stronger runner and a better college football bet to score a TD on Saturday.
