Junior quarterback Sam Howell is expected to play after missing the Wofford game with a non-throwing shoulder injury. It was the first time since 2018 that someone other than Howell started at quarterback for North Carolina. Howell, who is 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

The Wolfpack were covering for good after they returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown with 3 minutes, 1 second left in the second quarter. The total of 49½ betting online hung in the balance until Syracuse scored a touchdown with 8:45 to play.

NC State can be the leader in the clubhouse as it battles for the ACC’s Atlantic Division title. The Wolfpack must win and hope 4½-point favorite Wake Forest loses at Boston College on Saturday to earn a spot opposite Pittsburgh in the ACC Championship Game. The spread, moneyline or total haven’t budged, a strong signal that Howell will play. North Carolina is 2-6 against the college football spreads in its last eight games. NC State has won three of its last four, straight-up and ATS. The over/under is 3-3 in each team’s last six contests, although the last two North Carolina tilts have stayed under.
The Wolfpack are 6-1 in their last seven ATS at home entering this Senior Day game.
