Oklahoma ATS Pick vs TCU in Potential Big 12 Farewell

This will be the final season in the Big 12 Conference for No.13 Oklahoma (9-2, 6-2), which will face TCU (5-6, 3-5) before it moves to the SEC. That will undoubtedly motivate Oklahoma to finish its time in the Big 12 on the right foot, making Friday’s game interesting for college football picks.

In the Horned Frogs’ last game, their offense came alive in a 42-17 win against Baylor that halted a three-game losing streak. The Sooners had a more challenging game against BYU last week but still won 31-24. However, they had to rely heavily on the defense to make plays after Sooners starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel left the game with an injury.

TCU Offense In Form Under New Quarterback

With this potentially being the season’s final game, TCU has fallen short of college football predictions. The Horned Frogs were in the national championship game last season but now need to beat Oklahoma to become bowl-eligible. However, the win over Baylor does give TCU some confidence, especially on offense.

A big reason for the offensive success has been quarterback Josh Hoover. He has played well in place of Chandler Morris, who lost the starting job while he was injured. Hoover has thrown for over 300 yards in four of his last five starts, including 412 against Baylor. He also completed 24 of 29 passes for two touchdowns with no interceptions while running in another score for a complete game.

TCU’s offense was fully rolling against Baylor, putting up 531 yards. Hoover led the way, connecting with Jared Wiley for seven receptions, 178 yards, and both touchdowns. The running game also had some success behind Emani Bailey’s 16 carries for 53 yards and two more scores.

For TCU, facing Oklahoma will be a much bigger test than Baylor, which has struggled this season. The college football spread reflects that. Still, Hoover has shown more than enough to be a quarterback who can make plays when called upon.

Oklahoma Focuses on Big 12 Title Game

This is a big game for Oklahoma, beyond just being the final one within the Big 12. The Sooners are in a three-way tie for second place in the Big 12 and have their eyes set on the conference championship game. College football lines favor them to make it, but winning over TCU would make things more of a reality.

However, there are some concerns with Oklahoma. For one, Gabriel left the win over BYU with an injury before the first half ended. He had another solid game before his exit, completing 13 of 21 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. His injury has the potential to shift college football odds, and with the game being played on Friday instead of Saturday, there is one less day for rest.

On the other hand, the Sooners managed to beat BYU without their star quarterback. The defense stepped up, holding BYU to 173 passing yards while forcing three turnovers, two fumbles, and an interception that all led to Oklahoma touchdowns, including a pick-six.

107 yards on just 14 carries and a TD. He really helped carry the offense in the second half when OU needed it.

Furthermore, the ground game got going behind Gavin Sawchuk, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts. If Gabriel does miss the game against TCU, Oklahoma will need a big game from Sawchuk, who should have some success against a defense allowing 149.9 rushing yards per game.

TCU vs Oklahoma Best Bet

Vegas betting lines are leaning toward Oklahoma to win this game, but there are some concerns. Last week, the Sooners needed the defense to create turnovers to win with Gabriel out of the game. Even though Hoover has been good, last week was his first game without throwing an interception.

Oklahoma should be able to cause the necessary turnovers to win the game against a struggling TCU team.

NCAAF Best Bet: Oklahoma -10 -105
