Oklahoma St. star quarterback Spencer Sanders did not start the game, but finished it, throwing the go-ahead touchdown against Iowa St. He missed the previous game, a loss to Kansas, with an injured shoulder. Even though he didn’t start, the aforementioned win against the Cyclones should be credited to him, as the whole team’s performance improved once he entered.
Gunnar Gundy threw his second interception in the third quarter, prompting the change at quarterback. Sanders is expected to start against Oklahoma, this after the offense compiled just 244 yards, 1-of-14 on third-down conversions last week.
The Cowboys‘ defense made its presence known as well, causing five turnovers and holding Iowa St. to 59 rushing yards on 39 attempts. That’s somewhat better than the 351 yards on the ground Kansas shoved in their face.
Note that Iowa St. has arguably the best defense in the Big 12, but struggles moving the ball.

OU couldn’t score in the fourth quarter, however, having failed to capitalize on two turnovers (and those two missed field goals) along the way.
