Money Comes for Rebels

We’re not surprised by money coming for Ole Miss with college football lines. The Rebels might have been beaten by Kentucky two weeks ago, but they rebounded nicely with a 27-3 win over South Carolina.

That win came on the road, and considering that LSU only narrowly defeated South Carolina 36-33, the form bodes better for the visitors on Saturday night. Winning by 24 points on the road isn’t easy, regardless of how inconsistent the Gamecocks have been, and it puts Ole Miss in good stead for this game.

The Rebels showed their scoring power when beating Wake Forest 40-6 earlier this season, and although LSU is a much harder opponent than the Demon Deacons, it shows that they can pile on the points when things go their way.

Given the early money coming for the visitors, bettors should not be surprised that NCAAF betting markets moved the line to -3½. That is a crucial move, so it’s best to back the Rebels now before it changes again.

However, opposing QB Jaxson Dart has a bigger arm, and Nussmeier is in danger of playing second-fiddle in this matchup. A quick start could help him settle and put LSU in a solid position at halftime.

“(Offensive coordinator) Joe Sloan is always telling us to start fast,” Nussmeier said after the South Alabama game. “I don’t know if we thought we were going to start that fast, but Caden (Durham_ made a pair of great plays.”
