Our Best Bets for NCAA Football Week 12: Wake Forest vs Notre Dame
Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman gets a shot to beat his former team when the 19th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Week 12. Hartman, a dinosaur in terms of college football, spent five years with Wake Forest before transferring to Notre Dame ahead of the 2023 schedule.
Hartman seems to have made the right move as Notre Dame is a top-20 school, and the Demon Deacons are on a three-game losing streak. As a result, the odds for Saturday list the Irish as huge favorites of -24½ points and -3400 on the moneyline.
Neither team is a CFP contender or has any Heisman Trophy candidates, but there is still considerable college football betting value for Saturday’s ACC action.
Notre Dame Profitable NCAA Football Bet
The Fighting Irish are a tough nut to crack, and their 31-23 loss as -2.5-point underdogs to the Clemson Tigers in Week 11 doesn’t help get a read on them. Their only other losses of the season were to ranked teams, and I think we can chalk up the Clemson loss to an outlier.
Despite the loss, Notre Dame remains one of the most profitable college football teams, with a 6-3-1 record against the spread (ATS). Their home results are even better, with a 4-1-1 ATS record and an attractive 43.93% return on investment (ROI).
As much as I don’t like wagering on favorites when the online betting odds lean towards one team this heavily, Notre Dame has done well in these spots all year. In four games where the spread was 21+ points and Notre Dame was favored, the Irish were 3-1 ATS.
The Demon Deacons, on the other hand, are losers on the road with a -4.60 ROI.
If I had to make one bet online for this game, it would be for Notre Dame team to bounce back from a tough loss and dominate Wake Forest up and down the field. There is no playoff berth in their future, but the Fighting Irish can still end the year on a high note.
