Pittsburgh tuned up for the title tilt with a 31-14 victory at Syracuse. The Panthers were covering the 11½-point spread for good when they took a 21-7 lead with 10:32 left in the third quarter. The total when betting online was 58 and still within reach when the Orange got to within 28-14, one touchdown from covering with 2:03 left in the third. However, the fourth quarter was quiet with only a Pitt field goal added to the scoreboard.
Wide receiver Taysir Mack is questionable with an arm injury, but listed as a starter on the depth chart. He did not play last week. The senior has 27 catches and three touchdowns this season. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest faced a must-win situation to reach its first ACC title game since 2006, and responded with a 41-10 triumph at Boston College. The Demon Deacons were covering for good as a six-point favorite when they made it 7-0 with only 6:29 played. The game was on pace to surpass the 64½ total in the Las Vegas odds with Wake Forest up, 24-10, at halftime, but only 10 points were scored in the third quarter.
There are no major injuries to report pertaining to this game.
Betting on the Game
Wake Forest (6½) and Pittsburgh (seven) easily surpassed their projected win totals for the regular season as they make rare appearances on the big stage. The Panthers are playing in their second ACC title game in nine seasons since joining the conference in 2013.
Pitt lost to eventual national champion Clemson, 42-10, in 2018. The Demon Deacons won the crown in 2006 in their only championship game appearance. The Panthers have been favored in every game this season while Wake is 1-2 as an underdog against the spread.
Pitt hasn’t fared well as the favorite at a neutral site, losing its last four such contests. The over is 8-4 in the Panthers’ 2021 games while the Deacons are 6-6 against the total. This contest could come down to the play of the quarterbacks.
Pittsburgh senior Kenny Pickett, the third choice to win the Heisman at +1400, has tossed 40 touchdown passes. Wake Forest sophomore Sam Hartman has thrown 34. The Demon Deacons’ pass defense is 50th among the FBS teams; the Panthers are 112th.
Pittsburgh, though, is second nationally in sacks with 3.8 per game. College football picks don’t get much tougher than this one. With a pairing that no one saw coming, there’s no choice here with conviction.
