Roll with Buffalo as ATS Road Pick vs Toledo

Owning one of the best winning streaks in the country, the NCAA football lines heavily favor the Toledo Rockets (7-1) to make it eight wins in a row when they host the Buffalo Bulls in a Mid-American Conference matchup on Halloween night.

With the college football spread showing Toledo as an overwhelming favorite by two touchdowns and change, will the Rockets be able to send Buffalo back home with their sixth loss of the season? Or will the Bulls pull off a huge upset on Tuesday night?

Let’s break down this MAC showdown.

Is Toledo too Much to Handle for all MAC Teams?

After starting out the season losing by a couple of points to Illinois, Toledo has made it a point to show why it is the best team in the MAC. Collecting win after win this season, tallying up seven in total, and with the hopes of making it eight against Buffalo, you have to give it to the defending MAC champions as the best team in the conference.

Between quarterback DeQuan Finn’s leadership in the team’s passing offense and stud running back Penny Boone carrying the heavy load with eight touchdowns alongside 865 rushing yards, stopping Toledo has become almost impossible.

Even in the team’s last game against Miami-Ohio, Toledo only needed one half of strong offensive play, where the Rockets scored 21 points to score yet another victory.

It’s not just on offense that Toledo brings it. Allowing 20.1 points per game, Toledo’s defense has shown to be one of the stoutest in its conference and its high mark has been against the pass. Allowing only 183.6 passing yards per game, this could end up meaning trouble for Buffalo’s offense, which will have to rely heavily on its rushing game to ring up the score.

Simply put, from everywhere you look Toledo is too much for any team in the conference to handle, something that the Rockets will try to show come Halloween night.

Don’t Take Buffalo Winning, but Do Take it ATS

Why, if the NCAA football spread had Toledo as overwhelming favorites, would I say to go with Buffalo against the spread (ATS)? I’m basing it on Buffalo’s performances as of late, including winning three of its last four games, and with its defense showing significant growth in comparison to early in the season.

Considering that a strong result for Buffalo could really help them in their hopes of landing into bowl-eligibility territory, I’m going with the Bulls stepping up and trying to go for a valiant performance here, trying at least not to get blown out.

With that said, though, Toledo’s offense could very well be taken as one of the best in the country, with its offensive line only allowing a total of three sacks this season.

In a game where Buffalo will be hoping to have star RB Ron Cook Jr. truly explode with a strong performance against a defense like Toledo’s that has looked rather poor in rushing yards per carry allowed, I say take Buffalo ATS. The 15½ points is too much of a NCAAF betting spread for Toledo to cover against a defense on the rise, so roll with Buffalo.

Bet on Toledo Offense to Rocket Past the Over

Averaging 34.9 points this season, Toledo’s offense can brag about being the MAC’s top offense. But why leave it at that? Toledo’s offense is averaging 441.6 total offensive yards per game, with 232.5 coming from its stellar rushing attack, led by Boone.

With the total slated at 52 in our sportsbook, I could easily see Toledo lighting up the scoreboard and putting up at least 35 or more points on Halloween night.

As Buffalo tries to keep up in the fight and puts on its own offensive effort, running its score in the high tens or low twenties, my advice here is to take the over in the total in what promises to be a great game.

Questions Of The Day

Which Buffalo player is most likely to lead the team in rushing yards?

One of Buffalo’s biggest strengths on offense is its running game, led by Ron Cook Jr. In this game, NCAAF betting fans should definitely be keeping an eye on Cook to lead Buffalo’s rushing attack.

What is the best bet to place on the total for this game?

While both teams have shown to have strong offenses, said offensive firepower seems to dim down when playing in intra conference games. Still, with Toledo’s offense firing on all cylinders, take the over against Buffalo.
