Our Week 7 SEC football predictions came through with the Alabama-South Carolina game going over the total while Georgia and Tennessee both failed to cover as double-digit favorites.

Things will be heating up in Week 8 with No. 5 Georgia playing at No. 1 Texas and No. 11 Tennessee welcoming No. 7 Alabama to town. Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M are the road teams listed by the college football spread as favorites this week.

Texas remains No. 1 in both national polls with the Longhorns receiving 109 of the 115 first-place votes. Georgia is fourth in the American Football Coaches Association poll and fifth in the Associated Press poll. Alabama remained at No. 7 in both national polls while LSU broke into the top 10 at No. 8. Tennessee is 10th in the AFCA rankings and 11th in the AP poll.

When looking at the NCAA football futures odds, four of the top nine teams in the odds of winning the national championship hail from the SEC.

Let’s take a look at some of the bets to consider heading into Week 8.

Top 3 SEC Bets for Week 8

1. Alabama vs Tennessee Could Be See-Saw Affair

It has been 18 years since Tennessee has won back-to-back home games against Alabama Crimson Tide. The 16-13 win in 2006 was the fourth win in a span of five home games for the Volunteers. Alabama is 16-1 outright and 12-5 against the sports betting odds vs Tennessee. The lone loss came two years ago with Tennessee outscoring Alabama 52-49.

It seems unlikely that another 101 points will be scored when the teams meet in Knoxville on Saturday. Both teams would like to have played better in Week 7. Tennessee allowed a touchdown to Florida with 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Gators passed on what could have been the go-ahead two-point conversion and that proved costly with Tennessee winning in overtime.

Alabama needed a game-ending interception after failing to secure the onsides kick to hold off South Carolina.

This feels like a game when both teams will try to land body shots so look at the +232 odds for neither team to score three times in a row.

2. Wait to Bet on First Score in Georgia vs Texas

Georgia Bulldogs hasn’t been an underdog in a regular-season game since the 2021 season opener against Clemson. That last time it happened in SEC play was in 2020 when Alabama rolled to a 41-24 win.

Now the Bulldogs head to Texas as a 3.5-point underdog in the most anticipated Week 8 game.

The Longhorns hadn’t trailed or allowed any points in the first quarter before a field goal by Oklahoma’s Tyler Keltner last week. Texas scored touchdowns on three of the next four possessions.

Things figure to be a little more challenging against Georgia, the team that was listed by the BetUS sportsbook odds as the favorite to win the national title.

There will be some big boy football played in this game and we are expecting the defenses to have the upper hand in the early going.

Bet This Pick: First score won’t come in the first six minutes in Georgia-Texas Matchup (+127)

3. South Carolina-Oklahoma To Go Over The Total

The SEC schedule maker did no favors for South Carolina with the last three conference games coming against LSU, Ole Miss and Alabama. The Gamecocks were overwhelmed in the matchup with Ole Miss but could easily have gone 2-1 in the other two games, putting up 33 points against LSU and 25 more versus Alabama.

Next up is a trip to Norman to face Oklahoma. The Sooners had nine straight drives with less than 20 yards against Texas before a game-ending 69-yard drive so there is some work to be done.

Expect a bounce-back performance for Oklahoma on offense. The defense is still a work in progress and that is enough to go with the game landing over the 41-point total in NCAA football picks.

Bet This Pick: South Carolina-Oklahoma to go over 41-Point Total
