Based on the college football lines, the most competitive games in Week 9 might be the LSU vs Texas A&M and Auburn vs Kentucky matchups. Texas A&M and Kentucky are listed as the home favorites.

For the second week in a row, we were 3-0 in the SEC football predictions. Let’s see how things shake out in Week 9 as teams will play their final game in October.

For the first time this season, an SEC team is not sitting atop the national polls, with Oregon at No. 1 in the Associated Press and American Football Coaches polls. Led by No. 2 Georgia, four of the top eight teams in the polls are from the SEC.

When looking at the NCAA football futures odds, four of the top nine teams in the odds of winning the national championship hail from the SEC.

Let’s take a look at some of the bets to consider heading into Week 9.

Top 3 SEC Bets for Week 9

1. Missouri vs Alabama to Land Under Total

Missouri is a good team and might be in contention to be the best squad in the ACC or the Big 12. In the SEC, the Tigers are just another ranked team faced with the unenviable task of going into Tuscaloosa to play an Alabama team coming off a loss to Tennessee.

There’s not much of a reward to take Alabama at -520 to win the game outright according to the college football odds. The Crimson Tide have lost twice before November for the first time since 2007.

Good luck trying to figure out this Alabama team, which put up 41 in a win over rival Georgia only to allow 40 points the following week in a stunning loss to Vanderbilt. Points have been harder to come by in the last two weeks while Missouri has scored a total of 31 points in its last two SEC games.

With that in mind, don’t be surprised to see this game to land under the 55.5-point total.

2. Texas Longhorns, Quinn Ewers Ready to Rebound

When it comes to college football news, there aren’t many better stories than the 2024 Vanderbilt Commodores.

Vanderbilt is on the verge of bowl eligibility and has a better SEC record this season than Ole Miss, Alabama and Oklahoma. However, Texas is coming off a humbling loss to Georgia and even with the Longhorns traveling to Nashville, this feels like it might be a tough day for the host Commodores.

The BetUS sportsbook odds listed Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers as one of the top Heisman Trophy candidates coming into the Georgia game. He was benched for a time with Arch Manning taking over. Expect Ewers to remind people why he is viewed as one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

Only LSU, Kentucky and Mississippi State have worse defensive pass efficiency ratings among SEC teams than Vanderbilt, so this could be a showcase for Ewers and the Texas offense.

Take the Longhorns to cover as the 18-point favorite.

3. Oklahoma (+20) to Cover Against Ole Miss

The Oklahoma-Ole Miss game is another contest where the college football line just looks a little too extravagant.

Oklahoma has covered against the NCAA football spread in four of the last six games as a double-digit underdog. The last time Oklahoma was a 20-point underdog in the regular season was in 1997.

Ole Miss should be able to take care of business and pick up its second conference win of the season, but we don’t see the Rebels winning this game by more than 20 points.
