- Read on for our top South Carolina vs Oklahoma betting odds.
Things don’t get much easier for South Carolina after back-to-back losses to ranked Ole Miss and Alabama teams as the Gamecocks hit the road to meet up with Oklahoma. The game’s college football spread has Oklahoma as a slight favorite for Saturday.
This is the first meeting between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Oklahoma Sooners. The most obvious link between the programs is that current New Orleans Saints starting quarterback Spencer Rattler spent time as the quarterback at both Oklahoma and South Carolina.
Oklahoma is favored by 1½ points with -120 odds to win the game outright according to Week 8 college football lines. There are even odds for South Carolina to pull off the upset after the line opened at +125.
Both teams are well back in the odds to win the SEC title, with Oklahoma at +20000 and South Carolina priced at +45000.

South Carolina vs Oklahoma Odds and Spread
3 Ways to Bet on South Carolina vs Oklahoma
1. Sooners Should Bounce Back at Home
It is easy to be down on Oklahoma based on how poorly the Sooners played against a powerful Texas team. However, the South Carolina roster doesn’t have the star power that the Longhorns threw at Oklahoma.
The issue for Oklahoma is that the Sooners are the only SEC team to average less than 300 yards of total offense as they are last in the conference in both passing and rushing yards. South Carolina is only slightly better when the Gamecocks are on offense.
A college football betting trend to consider is that the Gamecocks are one of eight SEC teams to allow touchdowns on at least half of the opponent’s red-zone drives while Oklahoma has given up TDs on just six of 16 drives into the red zone by the other team. That could be the difference in this game.
South Carolina is 3-15 in its last 18 games as a road underdog. The Gamecocks have had some success covering as an underdog on the road but it might be hard to pull that off against an Oklahoma team with something to prove after last week’s fiasco in the Red River Rivalry. Oklahoma has won 10 straight games and covered in eight of them as a home favorite.
Bet on Oklahoma (-125) to Win as a Home Favorite
2. Expect a Back-And-Forth Affair
That 41.5-point total is something we would stay away from. Oklahoma had a 16-12 game against Houston but the matchups with Tulane and Auburn would have landed over that total. Two of South Carolina’s SEC games would have landed under 41.5.
South Carolina has shown the ability to hang around, throwing scares into LSU and Alabama. With that in mind, take a look at the +180 odds for neither team to score at least three times in a row. Another College Football Week 8 game prop bet to consider could be having the first score come after the first seven minutes with that carrying +109 odds.

3. Can Freshmen Quarterbacks Deliver in SEC Showdown?
Life has not been easy for Oklahoma freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins with two of his first three games with extended action coming against Tennessee and Texas, two of the top four teams in passing defense in the SEC. South Carolina has a better defensive passer rating than Tennessee.
Oklahoma is committed to Michael Hawkins Jr. as QB1, and Brent Venables and Jackson Arnold have discussed redshirting.
But with OU’s’ offense in dire straits, Venables isn’t ruling out a two-QB system at some point.

South Carolina also has a freshman starting quarterback with LaNorris Sellers coming off season-highs with 238 passing yards and a 74.2 completion percentage. The matchup between the quarterbacks could be the game within the game and will determine whether this contest will land over the total.

It’s not great news that five receivers and a tight end landed on Oklahoma’s initial college football Week 8 injury report. Leading receiver Deion Burks is questionable while Andrei Anthony and Jalil Farooq have been ruled out. Defensive back Kendel Doby is also out.
Burks has been drawing interest in college football player prop odds so keep an eye on any updates.
