2 Bets You Should Make on South Florida vs San Jose State
1. South Florida +3.5 (-110)
It’s been a tale of two seasons for South Florida, with the first being with Byrum Brown as the starter at quarterback. But Brown was injured in a Sept. 28 loss to Tulane, leaving junior Bryce Archie to take over the starting gig.
Since Archie took over as the starter, the Bulls have gone 4-3, with Archie throwing for 1,581 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 167 yards and two scores. He had his biggest game in a 63-30 win over Tulsa that clinched bowl eligibility for the Bulls, passing for 305 yards and two touchdowns and leading South Florida to 715 yards of total offense.
But Brown may be back – he’s supposedly finally healthy enough to go after suffering the lower leg injury months ago.

“I think the fair thing would be, if Byrum is ready to roll, Byrum rolls and Bryce is there ready to roll right behind him,” South Florida coach Alex Golesh said this week. “I think if Byrum isn’t ready to roll, then Bryce will go and Byrum will be right there behind him. But I would never let somebody lose their job because of an injury.”
Brown threw for 3,292 yards and 26 touchdowns a season ago while running for 809 yards and 11 scores. If he can return to that form, the Bulls are going to be a more difficult team to beat.
Whichever quarterback starts, we like South Florida to pull the upset in Hawaii. The first of our college football predictions for the Hawaii Bowl is taking the points and the Bulls.

2. South Florida vs San Jose State Over 62½ (-110)
While the Bulls have a pair of dangerous quarterbacks, San Jose State has its own signal caller who can light up the scoreboard when he gets rolling. Junior Walker Eget is coming off a huge game in a win over Stanford, throwing for 385 yards and four touchdowns.
Eget, who has been splitting time all season with original starter Emmett Brown, has thrown for 2,224 yards and 11 touchdowns, but he also has nine interceptions.
Per South Florida vs San Jose State betting tips, the Spartans are averaging 27.5 points per game despite the instability under center. The Bulls are scoring 31.4 points per game, but they’re also allowing 29.0 points.
These teams can both light it up and the weather conditions aren’t going to be a problem. Plan on lots of scores and the score going over when you do your online sports betting on this game..
