Take Points With Oregon State vs No. 6 Oregon

It’s officially rivalry weekend, and one of the highlighted games will be played on Friday between No.16 Oregon State (8-3, 5-3) and No. 6 Oregon (10-1, 7-1). Oregon State no longer has a chance to play in the Pac-12 Championship Game, but Oregon has solid NCAAF lines to make it and have a second chance to face Washington.

Last week, the Beavers made a strong attempt to upset Washington but ultimately fell short, losing 22-20, but they showed promise for this upcoming matchup. On the other hand, the Ducks played amazing, completely dominating Arizona State on the road in a 49-13 win.

Oregon State Tries to Play Spoiler Again

Last week’s loss to Washington was tough for Oregon State to swallow. Everything seemed to fall into place for the Beavers to upset the top team in the Pac-12 and hand the Huskies their first loss. Even the weather seemed to help out the Beavers, with the rainy conditions helping them maintain control of the running game and not allowing Washington’s passing attack to go off.

However, the upset was not meant to be despite Damien Martinez having another big game on the ground. He rushed for 123 yards, his third straight game over 100, with two scores on 26 attempts. DJ Uiagalelei was far from effective with his arm, completing 15 of 31 passes for 164 yards and throwing two interceptions. He did rush for 53 yards on six carries.

What might have the most significant effect on future college football spreads is how well Oregon State played defense. The Beavers faced one of the top Heisman Trophy candidates, Michael Penix Jr., and forced him into one of his worst games. They also allow the second-fewest passing yards in the Pac-12 at 224.3 per game.

Oregon State will have to face another top option to win the Heisman in college football odds when facing Oregon’s Bo Nix. The Beavers’ defense must hold up against Nix as it did when facing Penix last week. Given their performance all season, the Beavers should be able to do that.

Oregon on the Verge of Rematch In Pac-12 Title Game

Oregon has only lost one game this season and it was to Washington, which has already qualified for the Pac-12 Championship Game. Oregon must beat its rival Oregon State to secure a highly anticipated rematch for college football predictions.

The Ducks once again showed why they are one of the top teams in the nation last week. They dominated Arizona State behind Nix, who threw for 404 yards with six touchdowns, completing 24 of 29 pass attempts. It was a complete masterclass of a game by one of the leading Heisman Trophy candidates. However, he will face a much more formidable opponent this week at Oregon State.

The Ducks could be forced to rely more on their running game because of Oregon State’s strong secondary, but that shouldn’t be an issue. Oregon has the second-best running game in the Pac-12, averaging 196.6 yards behind Bucky Irving, who has rushed for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns. Irving didn’t have to do much against Arizona State, only getting 11 carries for 63 yards, mainly because of how good Nix was.

The Ducks’ offense is a big reason why college football lines are siding with them, but the defense could also play a significant role. Oregon State averages the third-most rushing yards per game in the Pac-12 (192.6) and will rely on that. Oregon does allow the third-fewest rushing yards, at 96.2 per game, and will need to hold up defensively.
