Playoffs Await Tennessee
It’s too early to talk about the college football playoffs, but Tennessee is well on its way to securing a spot in the college football playoffs.
The Volunteers come off a tough 25-15 win over Oklahoma on the road, which followed three consecutive wins against inferior teams. Passing the test against the Sooners is a good form guide for bettors, and Tennessee shouldn’t find Arkansas any harder.

It should be an easier game, and although playing consecutive road games isn’t easy for a college team, we’re not surprised by the online betting support for the favorites. The Volunteers have an ability to cover spreads, as they showed when beating North Carolina State 51-10 and Kent State 71-0.
It’s a team effort for the Volunteers, including quarterback Nico Iamaleava and running back Dylan Sampson. We have been most impressed by Sampson, who has already scored 10 touchdowns.
Arkansas has a solid defense, but Sampson is powerful enough to run through it and put points on the board for Tennessee.
Razorbacks Eye Home Upset
The Razorbacks have played solidly enough in 2024 to be considered an upset threat at home on Sunday.
They defeated UAB and Auburn before losing a close game to Texas A&M last week 21-17, and they lost no admirers with that effort. However, they have yet to face a team as powerful as Tennessee, and that’s where the confidence wanes.
NCAAF lines haven’t taken much money for the Razorbacks to cover the spread, with +13½ paying -110. Expectations are low for the home side, who battled well against Texas A&M, and they should expect a similar physical game against the Volunteers.
“I thought their defense was extremely physical,” Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said of A&M. “We knew it was going in. We thought that was the best part of their football team, and they certainly showed it.”
There is a chance the Razorbacks show up in front of home fans, but if they allow an early touchdown to Tennessee, it could feel like they’re up against a solid wall. Their best chance is to score early and make the visitors think they need to trade scores.

Backing the Class Edge with Tennessee
Rankings don’t mean everything, especially in college football, but the Volunteers have passed the eye test. They look good, and they don’t appear to be mentally fragile, so handling hostile environments shouldn’t be hard.
We’re taking the -13½ line for Tennessee with our NCAA football picks before it moves to two touchdowns. It’s an important line to lock in and although we think Tennessee wins by more than two touchdowns, it doesn’t hurt to take a 13½ line.
The current total is 59½ points, which is one of the bigger totals of Week 6. Despite this, we’re taking the over. Tennessee and Arkansas know how to put points on the board, so it should be a touchdown fest.
