Texas A&M vs Arkansas Betting Odds in a SEC Rival Matchup

In Week 5, Texas A&M will match up against Arkansas, with the SEC rivals meeting on neutral ground at AT&T Stadium. These are Texas A&M vs Arkansas lines, with both teams looking to win in their second game against a conference opponent.

Last week, the schools opened SEC play. The Aggies started with a win over Auburn, mostly dominating the game despite their starting quarterback getting injured in the second quarter. On the other hand, the Razorbacks made it competitive against a ranked LSU but still fell short on a last-second field goal.

Texas A&M Defense Took Over

Last week, Texas A&M‘s defense dominated, doing so for the second straight game. That is a big reason why the Aggies are favored in Texas A&M vs Arkansas predictions.

Two weeks ago, against Louisiana-Monroe, the Aggies’ defense put together a great game. They won 47-3, with the defense allowing 222 total yards, 95 passing. What makes that defensive performance a little more remarkable is that the Aggies did not cause a single turnover and still controlled the game.

Similarly, last week, in a 27-10 win over Auburn, Texas A&M’s defense had complete control. The Aggies held Auburn to three points on offense, getting its only touchdown off a fumble recovery. Again, the Aggies held their opponent to under 100 passing yards, allowing only 56, and 200 total yards. The front seven dominated the game, with seven sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. However, Texas A&M did not force a turnover again, and while this is still an impressive defensive performance without that, it is a little concerning that the defense can’t make game-changing plays.

On the other side of the ball, the offense struggled to do anything in the first half, with only two field goals. However, after starting quarterback Conner Weigman left the game with an injury, Max Johnson took over, and the offense got into a rhythm. Johnson threw for 123 yards and two touchdowns. College Football odds might not change much given Johnson’s success last week, now that Weigman has been declared out of the season.

Arkansas Defensive Shortcomings

Arkansas heads into this matchup in Week 5, losing its last two games. In both games, the defense struggled, giving up a combined 72 points between BYU and LSU. While BYU did not have an explosive offensive game, only with 281 yards, that was not the case last week when the Razorbacks lost 34-31 to LSU.

LSU’s offense got whatever it wanted after Arkansas defense held strong for most of the second half. With 30 seconds left till halftime, the Razorbacks were winning 13-3, but they gave up a big touchdown that flipped in game College Football lines. LSU scored three touchdowns in the second half, putting up 509 yards of total offense.

On the other hand, the offense for the Razorbacks, especially quarterback KJ Jefferson, kept Arkansas in the game last week. He threw for 289 yards, with two touchdowns, but did throw two interceptions, one on the final play of the game, trying to make some magic happen.

That was a pretty solid day for Jefferson, despite his struggles the last three weeks with lead running back Raheim Sanders being injured. Jefferson relies on the balance Sanders provides to the offense, and the running back is questionable this week, facing Texas A&M. At the same time, College Football picks should be more comfortable with Arkansas if Sanders remains out, given what Jefferson did last week.

Texas A&M vs Arkansas Best Bets

For Texas A&M vs Arkansas picks, the Aggies are favored and should be in line for another SEC win. Texas A&M’s defense has been dominant, and the offense should be able to get enough done, especially against a struggling Arkansas defense.
