Texas A&M vs. Ole Miss Football Picks This Week: Rebels Get Scare

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Texas A&M Aggies head on the road to face another quality ranked opponent, in a matchup with No. 10 Ole Miss that marks the highest-ranked opponent they’ve faced at the time of the matchup.

The Aggies snapped a two-game losing skid that came at the hands of Alabama and Tennessee by13 points by defeating South Carolina 30-17 last week. The only other loss suffered by Jimbo Fisher’s team this season came in a road matchup against Miami, a 49-33 loss.

Ole Miss rallied from a 24-10 loss to Alabama by defeating then-No. 13 ranked LSU and proceeding to reel off four consecutive wins heading into Saturday’s game. Lane Kiffin has his team playing at a high level, winning both tough road games and defeating solid opponents at home throughout the year.

The Rebels will look to cement their place as one of the best college football teams in the nation when Kiffin and company welcome another talented opponent in Fisher’s group. Ole Miss has its sights set on a push toward the College Football Playoff, and convincingly defeating Texas A&M is a must in terms of next steps to do so.

What’s the Plan for Success?

Texas A&M has a talented pair of running backs in Le’Veon Moss (77 carries, 387 yards, three touchdowns) and Amari Daniels (66 carries, 355 yards, three touchdowns), as both players average North of five yards per carry. While Ole Miss allows 218.9 passing yards per game, they’ve given up 135.4 yards per game on the ground, which could lead to the Aggies leaning a fair amount on the running backs.

As for Ole Miss, we saw the A&M defense hold Tennessee QB Joe Milton in check both through the air (11-of-22 for 100 yards, one touchdown, one interception) and on the ground, as he rushed eight times for just 34 yards.

Jaxson Dart has seven rushing touchdowns this season, all over the past six games as well. If he’s able to keep the A&M defense honest, it should open up running back Quinshon Judkins, who’s rushed for 691 yards and nine scores on 146 attempts, but faces a tough spot as the Aggies allow less than 100 rushing yards per game.

Predicted Score: Ole Miss Rebels 31 – Texas A&M Aggies 24

Texas A&M vs. Ole Miss Best Bet

This matchup checks in as one of the most interesting of the weekend in my opinion, as the Rebels are three-point favorites at home, which highlights the potential for an upset in this spot. While I do think Ole Miss gets the job done, it’s going to be a close game, and I wouldn’t jump on them as a top bet of the week when looking at the spread.

I do still think Ole Miss gets the cover, ultimately winning by a touchdown here, but this game could be a close one throughout, as the Texas A&M defense has been playing at a very high level as of late.

College Football Pick: Ole Miss -3 (-110)

If Ole Miss Breaks Through, the Over Looks Appealing

On the opposite side of that argument that points to the Aggies defense, Ole Miss has plenty of offensive firepower with Dart, Judkins, running back Ulysses Bentley IV, who’s averaged 6.0 yards per carry and wide receivers Jordan Watkins, Tre Harris and Dayton Wade, all who have over 500 receiving yards and multiple touchdowns.

The projected total for this matchup is set at 53½ and while it’s easy to see a world where the Aggies defense plays a big role in making this a lower-scoring affair, I’m going to buy some stock in the Rebels offense at home. I think we see more points than expected, and my game prediction above just narrowly clears this total — however, if the Ole Miss offense hits its stride, don’t be surprised if the over clears with a decent amount of ease.

College Football Pick: Over 53½ (-110)

Questions Of The Day

What is the top prop bet for the Texas A&M vs Ole Miss game?

I like the Ole Miss offense to score first at odds of -102. I think homefield advantage and the high-upside playmakers the Rebels boast will play a role in this.

Will either team win by more than 10 points?

I’m predicting Texas A&M vs Ole Miss is a single-digit victory for the Rebels. If Texas A&M pulls off the upset, I think it’s still a close finish within 3-7 points either way.
