The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are still trying to find their footing this season. They are 2-1 but have a loss to Wyoming on the books. According to the college football odds, they could be heading for another loss this week.

Their opponent this week, the Ole Miss Rebels, are the No. 16 team in the country and are a perfect 3-0. They are looking to gain strength as they prepare for SEC football later in the schedule.

Let’s check the latest NCAAF picks, stats, injury reports, and NCAAF odds for Tulsa vs Ole Miss. We’ve plenty of NCAAF predictions for you to consider.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane

Last week, Tulsa defeated a lower-division opponent, Jacksonville State, by a score of 54-17. That game did not tell us much about the Golden Hurricane this season.

Tulsa previously defeated Northern Illinois, 38-35, and lost to Wyoming, 40-37. NIU and Wyoming are mediocre teams.

Northern Illinois lost to SEC doormat Vanderbilt at home this past weekend, so that gives you an idea of where they’re at. Meanwhile, Wyoming has lost by more than 30 points to Illinois, which is viewed as one of the worst teams in the Big Ten.

Tulsa’s defense clearly does not have many imposing players and allowing more than 34 points to NIU and Wyoming is cause for alarm.

Allowing 17 points to Jacksonville State is mildly concerning. Top-tier Group of Five teams in conferences such as the AAC (where Tulsa is) should not allow more than seven to 10 points to a team such as Jacksonville State.

That begs the question: how many points will Ole Miss hang on them this week? The oddsmakers in the sportsbook are expecting about 45 points out of them.

Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels shouldn’t be viewed as a top team after they steamrolled Georgia Tech, 42-0, but the fact that they did shut out Georgia Tech does reflect a certain degree of toughness and quality.

The Ole Miss defense could have relaxed and relented late in that game, but it did not. It pushed through to the very end and preserved the shutout.

That says something about a team. Ole Miss does not appear to be as good as it was last year when it went to the Sugar Bowl, but the dropoff from last year does not seem to be severe, only modest.

That’s good news for a program that needs to sustain a high level of quality in order to remain an annual factor in the SEC.

The big storyline for Ole Miss is a continuously evolving quarterback situation, with Jaxson Dart and Luke Altmyer both getting playing time.

It will be fascinating to see how this dynamic unfolds over the rest of the season. Against Tulsa, one should expect both quarterbacks to play.

Tulsa vs Ole Miss Prediction

This is a mismatch. Ole Miss has way more talent and a far better defense. Even if the Ole Miss offense struggles to a degree, the defense should be able to clamp down on Tulsa.

There is a small chance of lookahead as Ole Miss gets No. 8 Kentucky next week. However, Tulsa is pretty week.

Look for Ole Miss to deliver a lopsided win and cover the spread for your college football picks.
