UConn vs Michigan Prediction, Game Preview, Live Stream, Odds & Picks
What was Michigan thinking when this non-conference schedule was being put together? Nobody is expecting the Wolverines to face Georgia and Alabama before heading into Big Ten play, but it might be hard to find a less inspiring non-conference slate for a national title contender than the one Michigan is playing in 2022.
Michigan was favored by 31 points against Colorado State and by 53 against Hawaii in the first two games. Now the Wolverines are a 47½-point favorite versus visiting UConn. The games will help build some confidence for players with limited playing experience, but when it comes time to pick the four teams playing in the College Football Playoffs, these contests won’t be helping the Wolverines.

All you need to know about this matchup is that the Huskies have lost their last eight road games while Michigan is eyeing its 10th straight win at home.
According to college football predictions, Michigan (+2200) is sixth in the NCAA college odds to win the national championship.
Michigan (+450) is second behind only Ohio State in the odds to win the Big Ten title for the second year in a row.
Michigan remained fourth in the Associated Press poll and fifth in the American Football Coaches Association poll.
Let’s check the latest, stats, injury reports, and college football odds for UConn vs Michigan.
UConn Huskies
Jim Mora Jr. is finding it just as difficult to be competitive as his predecessors in his first season at the helm of the UConn program. The Huskies are coming off a 48-14 loss at home to Syracuse.
A bright spot for the Huskies has been running back Nathan Carter. Carter is third nationally with 384 rushing yards and he is averaging 6.5 yards per carry. Junior linebacker Jackson Mitchell is the national leader with 39 tackles.
Only four teams have allowed more plays from scrimmage of at least 10 yards than the Huskies. Connecticut has one of the worst passing games in the country with an average of 132 yards per game. It doesn’t help that the starting quarterback and top receiver are both out long term for the Huskies.
UConn has covered against the college football lines in eight of the last 12 games.
Michigan Wolverines
Jim Harbaugh does things his way and doesn’t seem to care about what the outside world has to say.
Cade McNamara was the starting quarterback a season ago when Michigan Worlverines won the Big Ten title and was one of the four teams on the College Football Playoff field. Harbaugh announced that McNamara would start the season opener with McCarthy getting the start in Week 2.
After completing 11 of 12 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns against Hawaii, McCarthy was named the starter for the UConn game.

Ten different players have at least two catches while Blake Corum (164 yards, 7.5 yards per carry) is the top running threat.
Sophomore linebacker Junior Colson leads the Wolverines with 12 tackles while 10 players have had a part of the eight sacks.
Something of note for those who bet online, Michigan has covered 12 of its last 16 games.
UConn vs Michigan Injury Report
Receiver Nigel Fitzgerald (hamstring) is questionable for UConn. Receivers Cameron Ross (foot), Matt Drayton, and Keelan Marion (collarbone) are out indefinitely. Quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson (knee) is out for the season.
For Michigan, offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart (ankle) and linebacker Nikhail Hill-Green are questionable.
UConn vs Michigan Head-to-Head
The Huskies and Wolverines haven’t played since 2013 when visiting Michigan, an 18.5-point favorite, had to rally for the 24-21 win over Connecticut. Three years early, Michigan was just a three-point favorite at home and the Wolverines rolled to a 30-10 victory.
UConn has lost its last five games against Big Ten competition. In the last two matchups, the Huskies have been outscored 87-3 in losses to Purdue in 2021 and Indiana in 2019.

UConn vs Michigan Betting Lines
UConn vs Michigan Prediction
This is a similar situation to a week ago when Michigan is expected to win easily against an overmatched opponent. The question is whether the Wolverines will be able to cover with such a gaudy betting line. A 56-10 win over Hawaii was not good enough to cover.
The total has gone over in five of UConn’s last seven contests. On the other side of things, four of Michigan’s last five games against FBS independent teams have gone under the total.
If UConn struggled to slow Syracuse, one has to wonder what things will look like on Saturday when the Huskies head to the Big House. Michigan has covered in two of the last six games when the Wolverines were favored by at least 30 points. With a true freshman set to start at quarterback for UConn, this has the potential to get ugly so Michigan covering seems like the best way to proceed.
