This will be the first game for Jim Mora Jr., a former head coach at UCLA and the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks.
No starting quarterback has been named with Penn State transfer Ta’Quan Roberson, Cale Millen, freshman Zion Turner and Tyler Phommachanh all listed on the depth chart. Phommachanh is the only one who has thrown a pass for the Huskies.

Quarterback Logan Bonner threw for 3,628 yards with 36 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his first season at Utah State after four years at Arkansas State. He had five 300-yard passing games a season ago.

He’ll be without top receiver Deven Thompkins (102 catches for 1,704 yards) who is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Former Maryland receiver Brian Cobbs could play a key role.
Leading rusher Calvin Tyler (911 rushing yards) is back while Alfred Edwards is one of the best offensive linemen in the Mountain West so this is an offense that figures to put up plenty of points.
Safety Hunter Reynolds (83 tackles), linebacker AJ Vongphachanh, cornerback Michael Anyanwu and defensive end Byron Vaughns (10.5 tackles for loss) are the top returning players on defense. Former Washington linebacker MJ Tafisi has earned a starting spot.
Utah State was tied for 20th in the country with 30 fourth-down plays with the Aggies converting on 16 of them.
Running back Jordan Wilmore had 28 yards on five carries and 15 yards on two receptions against UConn in 2021 when he played at Fresno State.
