UNLV at Michigan Betting Preview: Expect Massive Wolverines College Football Odds Blowout
The Michigan Wolverines, the second-ranked team in country, will be looking to repeat in the win column at home when they play host to the also 1-0 UNLV Rebels on Saturday. After routing East Carolina, 30-3, in a game where the Wolverines were taken as college football odds favorites by far, the Big Ten school. Enter the Rebels.
Without a money line bet being offered given how lopsided this matchup looks to be, Wolverines fans want to see a blowout, and from the looks of it, that’s exactly what they’ll be getting.

So what’s to be expected at Michigan Stadium? Let’s talk.
Michigan Was Great Last Week But Can Be Better
Entering the 2023 season, Michigan was made out to be one of the most important squads in the world of NCAA football odds. The Wolverines have everything going for themselves. A roster that year after year manages to rebuild and get better. A running game and that’s arguably the best in the country.
So of course, it was expected that in their first game of the season, college football lines the overwhelming favorite Wolverines would crush the Pirates. They played good ball, but not good enough to truly get the juices flowing in Ann Arbor. While it was expected for Michigan to cover the 36-point spread easily last week, it didn’t, so the mission this week, with a similar point spread, will be to cover.
Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards, Michigan’s two star RBs should break the 100-yard rushing yard mark with ease en route to a dominating win. And for the defense? As long as it keeps UNLV’s passing offense under siege, it will be game over quickly.
UNLV will be in for a rude awakening
If the Rebels are relying on inspiration from last week’s blowout win against Bryant to help them try to score an unthinkable upset against Michigan, they have another thing coming. Barry Odom’s team played well against Bryant.. But compared to Michigan, one of the best schools in the country, even I could have scored 44 on the Bulldogs.
Trying to stop Michigan’s running game will be critical while QB Doug Brumfield and WR Ricky White try to inflict some damage.
It’s going to be a long afternoon for the Rebels.

Who in their right mind would want to bet on the Rebels on the road against the Wolverines? Even in their win last week, UNLV looked meager at best both on offense and defense. Playing Bryant is one thing, but playing Michigan, one of the best overall teams in the country, on its home turf is a whole other.
I don’t see the Rebels scoring more than 10-15 points, and believe me, I hesitated when I wrote 15 for feeling way too generous. On the other hand, I can easily see Michigan and its dominant running game making UNLV’s defense look like rag dolls, especially in red-zone plays.
Taking UNLV to cover might be the only bet worth making if you wish to see the Rebels win in some way, shape, or form.
- Pick: UNLV +37 ½ (-110)
Michigan Alone Should Easily Nlast the over
For Michigan, one of the main keys in last week’s win against East Carolina was how it could manage to give some more playing time to their passing attack instead of just focusing on running the ball. J.J. McCarthy balled out and even if the team didn’t cover the 36-point spread, a 27-point win works just fine as well.
If you’ve been watching Wolverines football, at least from last season, you know that this is a team that loves to run the ball and squash opposing defenses while doing so. Now, in Week 2, with the team looking to bring back the full strength of their running game into play, the Wolverines themselves could be looking at covering and shattering the total over that stands right now at 58 at our sportsbook.
- Pick: Over 57 (-110)
