There has been an even split of money with college football lines on the game, but we expect money to come for the No. 11 Trojans, who could sneak into the top 10 with a win.

The Big Ten Conference rivalry game is big as both teams need wins to climb the rankings.

Road Redemption for Trojans

The USC Trojans have played on the road just once in 2024, which was a 27-24 loss to the Michigan Wolverines. However, that was always going to be a tough ask away from home.

A chance at road redemption is available for the Trojans, who bounced back with a 38-21 win over Wisconsin. Although it was close early, USC pulled away for a comfortable and classy win.

Quarterback Miller Moss has been economical with eight touchdowns and two interceptions, and limiting turnovers is big for this team. The Trojans like to control the pace of the game and keep the ball in their hands for long drives.

There is enough offense to keep Minnesota at bay, and that’s why the Trojans are favored with NCAAF odds. However, we expected a double-figure line, so it could pay to jump on the current line before it moves.

Not much improvement is needed from USC to cover the spread, and having had a road game under its belt only helps its chances of winning on Sunday.

Minnesota Keen to End Losing Streak

Following losses to Iowa and Michigan, the Golden Gophers are hoping to end the losing streak against USC.

They lost 27-24 to Michigan, which is the exact same losing margin as the Trojans, so that should give Minnesota bettors plenty of confidence. That followed a less than impressive 31-14 loss to Iowa, but they bounced back nicely.

Last week’s loss was closer than it appeared, with Minnesota outscoring Michigan 21-3 in the final quarter. It trailed 24-3 after three quarters, so although it was a good late comeback, the damage was done early.

There is some concern with the loss to Iowa, as it came at home. Iowa was only a -2½ favorite in online betting, so the Golden Gophers got blown out of the water when they weren’t expected to.

We expect betting markets to lengthen the odds for Minnesota, which is +253 on the moneyline to cause an upset. It’s not an overly popular betting team, especially compared to USC, so it could pay to wait for a better price.

For Minnesota to cover the NCAA football spread, it needs to limit turnovers. QB Max Brosmer has four interceptions, and although that’s nothing terribly bad, he can ill-afford to turn the ball over against USC.

USC to Cover Spread and Under

It’s not our most confident NCAAF pick of the week, but we’re locking in USC to cover the -8½ spread. We like this number as it’s expected to increase to around -9½, so we’ll take the extra point.

The Trojans seek a top-10 ranking and a win over Minnesota on the road could get them there. We’re not underplaying Minnesota’s ability, but we need to see more from the home side in what should be a low-scoring affair at Huntington Bank Stadium.
