Utes Look for First Road, Conference Win of 2022
Herm Out
Some coaches get fired on the tarmac immediately after the team plane lands back in town, for now-former Arizona State Sun Devils coach apparently didn’t even make it into the locker room before being relieved of his duties last week.
That’s what happens when you lose 30-21 at home to a MAC team Eastern Michigan, and when your school starts off 1-2 while also in the midst of multiple NCAA investigations.
Things likely don’t get much better for ASU with the No. 13 Utah Utes coming to town Saturday night.
Let’s check the latest NCAAF picks, stats, injury reports, and NCAAF odds for Utes vs Sun Devils. We’ve plenty of NCAAF predictions for you to consider.
Breath of Fresh Air for Sun Devils
Herm Edwards was 26-20 with a single bowl win during his five-year tenure in Tempe. He was a lively sideline presence, but many times that was more of a distraction than an asset.
A number of players decided they had had enough, and the likes of QB Jayden Daniels (LSU), DT Jermane Lole (Louisville), WR LV Bunkley-Shelton (Oklahoma), LB Eric Gentry (USC), and RB Chip Trayanum (Ohio State) are among those who transferred out of the program.
The exodus of players has Arizona State Sun Devils facing a talent disparity this season, especially in the college football odds for the Week 4 matchup with Utah.
RB coach Shaun Aguano will take over for Edwards in the interim, and he had success at the high school level leading Chandler to four state championships in eight seasons.
Utes Almost an Afterthought
With all the hubbub surrounding the firing of Edwards, the actual meeting with Utah Utes is kind of taking a back seat. The Utes are back up to No. 13 in the country, rebounding from their season-opening loss to Florida (29-26) with wins over Southern Utah (73-7) and San Diego State (35-7).
Arizona State was by Eastern Michigan because the Eagles were able to run for 315 yards on a whopping 49 attempts.
That’s not a great trend heading into the week four college football picks against a Utah team that has run for 218 ypg so far this season. Utes RB Tavion Thomas has a rush TD in all three games this season.
Utes vs Sun Devils Head-to-Head
The Utes picked up a 35-21 win last year in Salt Lake City, following a 21-3 victory in 2019 also at home. ASU beat Utah 30-28 at home in 2018 but this is a Sun Devils team in a lot of disarray making them hard to back to bet online.

Utes vs Sun Devils Prediction
ASU will have a new energy with Edwards out and it’s a great audition for Aguano to see if his high school coaching success can translate to the collegiate level. That being said, no amount of coaching energy can make up for a lack of talent, and Arizona State could not stop the run last week against Eastern Michigan.
Not only can Utah run the football something else to consider about the Utes for online sports betting on Saturday is that they have an experienced QB in Cameron Rising (18 TD, 5 INT in 2021), as well as the current No. 2, ranked passing defense (90.0 ypg) in the nation.
The Utes need a statement game after their loss to the Gators in the opener and they get it here in their Pac-12 opener.
