The “U” plays exciting football and that means we get plenty of action both ways. Even against overmatched opponents, Miami allows points. It gave up 31 against Duke as a 21-point favorite and 34 against Virginia Tech at -17.5. WFU has struggled to score against hard competition. It scored just 14 against Clemson and only six against Ole Miss.

However, Wake Forest is in the same spot as Duke. The Blue Devils only average 26.8 points per game. They hit the 30-point mark just once before playing Miami and it was against the lowly-ranked Middle Tennessee. Miami should not have allowed that many points and yet it did.

The bye week will be critical here for Miami as Mario Cristobal needs to get his boys back on track. But we’re still betting online on the Hurricanes to start slowly here. Miami’s defense does not tighten up until the second half. We could see the Demon Deacons score a few touchdowns in the first half. Miami will have to rally yet again.

As such, the total should go over 64.5 points here. We expect a similar game to the one with Duke albeit maybe not one where Miami escapes unscathed.

Maybe Miami will get its *bleep* together and take care of Wake Forest as a 25-point favorite should. We could see a sweat-free blowout win like the South Florida game back in Week 4. But unless Miami proves it otherwise, our college football prediction today is on WFU. The Demon Deacons won’t win this game but it will get within 25 points of Miami.

Wake Forest has a winning record against the spread (ATS) against the ACC under Dave Clawson: 45-40-3 (52.9%). That’s nothing to get excited over though Wake Forest is also 56.8% ATS as a road underdog (21-16). This is much better than Miami under Cristobal.

The Hurricanes are just 4-9-1 ATS as a home favorite since 2022. And in conference games, Miami is just 6-15-1 ATS, which is the worst ATS record among ACC teams.
