There are a lot of very good conference matchups this week, and not just between teams with a shot at the College Football Playoff or even a league championship game. Teams are starting to really get focused in on becoming bowl-eligible, which is leading to more and more intensity as desperation sets in for some.

3 College Football ATS Picks to Bet in Week 10

1. Louisville Keeps It Close vs Clemson

The Louisville Cardinals have been a bit of a hard team to get a read on this season. They have gone from ACC contender to slumping team to an upstart that could make some noise in the closing weeks of the regular season. They have a big shot at making some college football news on Saturday night when they take on the No. 11 Clemson Tigers.

Louisville started with a 3-0 record but had lost three of four before winning on the road against Boston College last weekend. The Cardinals are 10½-point underdogs against the Tigers on Saturday, but even in losses against highly-ranked teams like Notre Dame and Miami, Louisville has kept things within a touchdown – all three of their setbacks were by exactly seven points.

Senior Tyler Shough gives the Cardinals a puncher’s chance against anyone, having thrown for 2,348 yards and 20 touchdowns against just five interceptions. Two of those interceptions came in last week’s win over Boston College, but he also had 332 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

The Cardinals trailed 20-0 at halftime against the Eagles but came all the way back for a 31-27 victory that could boost the team’s confidence going into this week’s game.

Clemson (6-1, 5-0 ACC) has looked dominant since a season-opening loss to Georgia, but its six victories have come against teams that have a combined 18 wins this season, with none of those teams currently above .500. We think the Tigers likely come out on top in this one, but they’re not going to escape without a fight against a potentially potent Louisville squad.

Make the Cardinals one of your college football picks ATS this weekend.

Bet on Louisville +10½ vs Clemson

2. Illinois Get Home Victory vs Minnesota

Like many Big Ten teams this season, the Illinois Fighting Illini have not fared well against the league’s Big Three of Penn State, Oregon and Ohio State. Illinois doesn’t have to worry about taking on the Buckeyes, but it did absorb losses against the Nittany Lions and Ducks by a combined final score of 59-16, with both games coming on the road.

But other than those two setbacks, Illinois has been perfect, winning its six other games, including three in Big Ten play. So it’s interesting that the Illini are three-point underdogs at home in the NCAA football lines this weekend against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten).

Minnesota does come in on a three-game winning streak, but those victories came against USC, UCLA and Maryland – three of the bottom six teams in the Big Ten standings.

The Illini have one of the better quarterbacks in the conference in junior Luke Altmyer, who has really improved on not turning the ball over this season. Altmyer had 10 interceptions last season, but he’s been picked off only three times in 2024.

He’s thrown for 1,667 yards and 15 touchdowns, including some clutch throws in overtime victories over Nebraska and Purdue.

But Oregon took Altmyer out of his game last week, picking him off twice and sacking him three times. He’ll need to bounce back this week, but Illinois coach Bret Bielema still has confidence in his signal caller.

Luke is a tremendous competitor,” Bielema said after the Oregon loss. “We’re here where we are today because of what he’s done and we will continue to move forward because of that but everybody has a lot to learn. I think we have to do a better job of protecting him, making sure we can give him the answers.”

We think the Illini have the answers this weekend and pull the “upset” by beating Minnesota at home. Make Illinois one of your college football predictions ATS.

3. Wildcats Snap Losing Skid vs Struggling Knights

It’s very interesting the respect that the UCF Knights get from oddsmakers. UCF is 3-5 overall and 1-4 in Big 12 play yet was a home favorite against undefeated BYU last week. The Cougars pulled the “upset” with a 37-24 win.

Now, the Knights are six-point favorites at home despite being on a five-game losing streak. Granted, they’re hosting the Arizona Wildcats, who have dropped four in a row and have the same 3-5, 1-4 record as the Knights.

But six points for this college football spread is a lot for what seems like a fairly even matchup. The Wildcats at least have a road victory against Utah to their credit, though the Utes have been a disappointment this season.

Arizona features sophomore quarterback Noah Fifita, who has already passed for 2,068 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. He had 294 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s 31-26 loss to West Virginia. That game was the first this season in which Fifita hasn’t thrown an interception, as he has 10 in 2024.

He also ran for a touchdown in the loss to the Mountaineers, and he’ll certainly be letting it rip against UCF, which is 13th in the Big 12 in pass defense, allowing 247.3 yards through the air per game.

Both teams have struggled to close out games to get the victory. But we see this as closer than a six-point game, so we recommend taking the Wildcats when you’re doing your online sports betting this weekend.

Bet on Arizona +6 vs UCF
