Week 8 NCAAF Predictions: Bet Oregon, Indiana, Miami Over 10/19
- Read on for my best college football betting picks this weekend.
- Oregon has one of the best offenses in the nation and will face a Purdue defense that has allowed 50 or more points in back-to-back weeks.
- Even though Nebraska vs Indiana might feel like a defensive battle, the over is in play.
- Miami’s road game against Louisville is a matchup between two high-scoring offenses, leading this game toward the over.
We are just getting past the midway point of the college football regular season, and the action is heating up. Every game now, going forward, could decide a school’s bowl eligibility, chances at a conference title, or even its college football odds to make the playoffs.
That can make it hard for NCAAF predictions because now that we are in the middle of conference play, there might be more upsets. Most matchups will be between schools that are familiar with each other. They have also played enough games and put their strategies on film for the opponents to study.
When betting on the over/under, the number of games teams have played, and familiarity could help back the over. We know which programs have the elite offenses and when they will face opponents with struggling defenses.
3 NCAA Football Games to Bet Over on Oct. 19
1. Oregon vs Purdue Over 60½
One of those programs with an elite offense is No.2 Oregon. The Ducks headlined college football news last week by beating Ohio State, the previous second-ranked team in the nation. They won 32-31 behind a tremendous offensive performance led by quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

Gabriel transferred to Oregon from Oklahoma this offseason and started the year looking like he was on a new team. But now, six games into the season, Gabriel is beginning to settle into a grove. He threw for 341 yards with two touchdowns while running in another score. That performance has again made him a favorite in our odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
While Gabriel and the passing game has hit its stride at the perfect time, so has Oregon’s running game. Jordan James had his third straight game with 20 or more carriers for at least 100 yards and a touchdown. Being able to attack defenses through the air and on the ground is a massive reason the Ducks are averaging 34.5 points per game.
This week, Oregon’s elite offense will travel to face Purdue, who are a big reason this matchup can go over. Despite the Boilermakers hitting the over in four of six games this season, it is not because of their offense. They allow 39 points per game and gave up 50 or more in their last two games. Oregon will shred this defense, leading to this game hitting the over.

2. Nebraska vs Indiana Over 50½
Right away, this might be a confusing inclusion in college football betting picks to hit the over. The stigma of a Big Ten matchup between Nebraska and No.16 Indiana is that the game will be a defensive struggle.
That assumption does make sense. These are two of the best-scoring defenses in the Big Ten this season. Nebraska has allowed 11.3 points per game, the second-lowest in the conference, while Indiana is fourth at 14.8.

However, Indiana is coming into this game with one of the hottest offenses in the nation. The Hoosiers are ranked fourth in the country in yards per game (515.7) and are second in points (47.5). No defense has been able to slow them down, leading to the Hoosiers hitting the over in five of six games. Indiana has also had a versatile offense, leading the Big Ten in passing yards per game (315.3) while being fourth in rushing yards (200.3).
On top of that, while Nebraska’s defense has looked good, it has had some issues. Even though the Cornhuskers allow the second-fewest points per game, they are sixth in yards allowed (272.5). When facing an offense as hot as Indiana’s right now, that might be all it needs.
Another reason this game could be an over is Nebraska’s offense. The Cornhuskers have not been as good as Indiana, but they still average 28 points per game. Freshman and Patrick Mahomes impersonator Dylan Raiola has looked great and might be able to stress Indiana’s defense.

3. Miami vs Louisville Over 61
In this final over bet, we have one of the other top offenses in the nation coming into this matchup after an off week. No.6 Miami will go on the road to face Louisville, which could be one of the highest-scoring games of the week.

A big reason for that is Miami’s arguably the best offense in the nation. The Hurricanes are averaging the most yards (583.8) and points (47.7) per game, led by an elite passing attack. They are averaging 400 passing yards per game, the highest in the country, while quarterback Cam Ward has become another Hiesman favorite at BetUS Sportsbook, which are set at +600. Ward has passed for 2,219 yards, completing 69.2% of his passes, with 20 touchdowns.
There is a good chance that Miami’s offense can have another big game when facing Louisville, which allows 336 yards and 19.7 points per game. Out of those 336 yards, the Cardinals give up 216.5 passing yards, which is the primary way Miami’s offense will attack.
Another reason this game could hit the over is Miami’s defense. While the Hurricanes have allowed the fewest yards per game (282.5) and are fourth in points allowed (18.8) within the ACC, they have struggled against conference opponents. In the Hurricanes’ last two games, they have allowed 34 points to Virginia Tech, and then California scored 38. Considering Louisville has a good offense, averaging 36.2 points per game, that only helps this game hit the over.
Bet on Miami vs Louisville Over 61
