Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder
When: Thursday, 2:10 am ET
Where: Optus Stadium, Perth (neutral ground)
Odds: Hobart Hurricanes (-120), Sydney Thunder (-120)
Two top-four teams battle on Thursday as the second-placed Thunder head to Perth to take on the third-placed Hurricanes. It will have playoff implications, and the winner will be feeling much more comfortable at the end of Week 5.
Hobart enjoyed a long period at the top of the table before losing to Melbourne Stars earlier in the week. They have a team capable of bouncing back, and bettors have cashed in their cricket bets on the Hurricanes many times this season.
Spearheading Hobart’s attack is Ben McDermott, who is coming off a stellar 91 runs against the Stars. The wicketkeeper was in fine form, and if he brings that to the table on Thursday, the Hurricanes will be tough to stop.
One of the most consistent Big Bash cricket teams is the Sydney Thunder, which has won five of seven games. Boasting Australian representatives in Usman Khawaja and Ben Cutting, the Thunder are a team to follow this season.
Despite losing to Brisbane on Tuesday, we expect Sydney to produce a better effort this time around. They will enjoy conditions in Perth, and the online betting odds are worth taking.
Prediction: Sydney Thunder to win at -120
Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Stars
When: Thursday, 5:20 am ET
Where: Metricon Stadium, Brisbane
Odds: Brisbane Heat (+120), Melbourne Stars (-160)
It has been a trying season for Brisbane, but they have found form in recent weeks. The Heat scored consecutive wins over the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder, an excellent form guide for this game.
However, they now take on a star-studded Melbourne Stars outfit that is desperate to build on the momentum. The Stars haven’t been a good team for bettors this season, with a 3-3 record, but they possess plenty of talent.
Melbourne sends out captain Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, two of the most lethal cricket players in the world. Either player can win the game for his team, which is the danger this Stars team presents its opposition.
Bettors will have to lay plenty of juice at the -160 line, but we can’t trust the Heat, despite their recent winning streak. They often play poorly as the playoffs get closer, and Melbourne is the classier team.
Prediction: Melbourne Stars to win at -160
Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades
When: Friday, 2:10 am ET
Where: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Odds: Adelaide Strikers (-200), Melbourne Renegades (+150)
The Melbourne Renegades are the laughing stock this season, and bettors shouldn’t be too worried about the final leg to take advantage of the Big Bash cricket odds for this parlay.
Melbourne has produced just one win from eight games, and they currently ride a five-game losing streak. Making matters worse, they have failed to score 100 runs in three games, which won’t win you many games.
Looking to pile on the pressure is Adelaide, who sits comfortably in fourth position. They will see this as a must-win game to keep their playoff hopes alive because no team wants a loss to the Renegades on their record.
Friday’s game is the return game of a doubleheader, in which Adelaide took Game 1 by 59 runs. Melbourne scored only 111 runs, and it was another dismal effort, so expect the home side to win again.
Prediction: Adelaide Strikers to win at -200
Big Bash Thursday/Friday Parlay Selections
The three teams featured on our Big Bash Parlay are well-favored to win with the book. Favorites are frequently winning in the Big Bash this season, and we can see that continuing this week.
Our toughest test is the early Thursday game between the Hurricanes and Thunder, but the parlay is an excellent chance of hitting if Sydney gets up.
