Durham Set to Bounce Back in T20 Blast

Twenty/20 Cricket All the Rage

Durham and Lancashire meet for the first time this season on Thursday and it should be an exciting game.

The T20 Blast has been a terrific competition to date and bettors get value odds for short-form cricket matches. They don’t last as long as traditional games, so it’s a win-win for fans.

The online betting markets have Lancashire as favorite, but T20 cricket is rife with upsets and it could be on the cards.

Durham Ready to Rebound

The three-game winning run for Durham came to an end against Nottinghamshire, but it was a close contest.

It had won three games on the bounce against Leicestershire, Yorkshire, and Worcestershire. There was little wrong with those performances and although beaten last time on the field, the run rate was excellent.

Having Ben Stokes in the lineup is ideal and although he’s returning from injury, his experience is vital.

[He] is making excellent progress. If he continues to improve without any impact on his rehabilitation, we could see him return next month for Durham in the Vitality Blast competition,England coach Chris Silverwood told ESPN last month.

It’ll be a slow return. We’re potentially looking at the T20 Blast and then a gradual build back into international cricket for him. He has started bowling again and he’s not far off hitting a few balls as well. He’s progressing nicely and on course for where we expected him to be.”

Durham won the most recent T20 game against Lancashire. It was a 74-run smashing, which saw Lancashire scoring just 83 runs.

That will give Durnam plenty of confidence and bettors get value odds. Cricket betting markets have it paying +150 to bounce back, which shouldn’t be overlooked.

Lancashire Runs Down Big Target

Lancashire was set a target of 196 against Derbyshire, but it was chased down with 10 balls remaining.

It was a good return to form after suffering a defeat to Worcestershire, which didn’t have much trouble chasing down 132 runs. It was a dour effort for Lancashire, which had a run rate of only 6.60.

However, they were incredible when winning on Tuesday and the quick back-up shouldn’t worry this team too much.

It sits in third place with three wins from four games. The competition is only in its early stages, but it could reach the top spot with a win over Durham.

Finn Allen has been playing well and he came off impressive form in New Zealand. Conditions are different in England, but he has handled the increased ball movement well.

It’s a little bit different over there: when it’s spinning a bit more, you have to get close to the ball so you can have a bit more control,” Allen said. “It’ll be interesting to see what it’s like out here when pitches are a little bit used. I was learning off [Glenn] Maxwell and AB [de Villiers] – they’re pretty good players of spin, so pretty useful to talk to about how they go about it, as you can imagine.

Lancashire still has the services of Jos Buttler, who is available for the first six games. The globetrotting T20 player is an explosive opener and his impressive strike rate could help this team get over the line.

Bettors get -200 for Lancashire to win, which is short. For a game that could go either way, taking such a short price is risky.

Durham vs Lancashire Pick

We’re sensing an upset and backing the underdogs in T20 cricket is a sound betting strategy.

It comes off a tough loss, but Durham was right in the mix and bouncing back is well within its capabilities.

We weren’t impressed with Lancashire’s lack of run-scoring talent two games back. It looked much better earlier this week, but that inconsistency is troubling.

+150 for Durham is a steal and this talented unit could either set a big target or chase Lancashire down.

Pick: Durham +150
