Confidence with Favorites
It has been the perfect start for Glamorgan after beating Derbyshire by eight wickets and Kent by three wickets.
Glamorgan was the favorite to win both games and the sportsbook has it favored to beat Yorkshire, but it won’t be an easy contest.
Yorkshire is a step up in opposition despite losing to Lancashire in its first game, but confidence is with Glamorgan.
The bowling attack has been excellent, including seamer Timm Van der Gugten, who went 4/41 against Derbyshire.
“I have been ready for a couple of weeks. I have had quite a bit of time to build up. It has been a frustrating period but it was nice to contribute to a win,” Van der Gugten told Glamorgan Cricket.
“As a bowling unit we bowled unbelievably and obviously, the batters just finished it off at the end. “It was quite a nice wicket to bowl on, to be honest. With the two new balls from both ends, the ball tends to stay newer for a bit longer so there was a little bit of assistance there early on. As a unit, we all put it there for long enough and we got the rewards.”
If the Glamorgan bowling attack can strike early, it should put Yorkshire under a lot of pressure, especially after Yorkshire scored only 247 runs to beat Worcestershire.
Yorkshire Rise in Rankings
Yorkshire didn’t fire a shot against Lancashire as betting online underdogs. However, it got its second win with a convincing victory over Worcestershire, despite scoring a low total.
We still believe Yorkshire could make another deep run in the Royal London Cup, but it’ll need to beat teams like Glamorgan and that could be tough.
“It’s disappointing because of how well we played the other day,” Yorkshire’s Ali Maiden said.
“You want to follow that up. You look around the houses, and ultimately we played some poor cricket shots through the middle of our innings. We had a good powerplay at the start, and then a lot of batters were out playing across the line instead of hitting down the ground.”
It’s up against a stellar bowling lineup in great form, so Yorkshire needs to fire from the outset and see off a late charge.
Having already beaten Northamptonshire to kick off the competition, there is ability in the Yorkshire ranks.

Yorkshire won the most recent contest in 2021 by four runs. It was a closely-fought contest and it continued the theme of the head-to-head series.
The prior matches ended in a draw, so there is little between them and that should be reflected in betting markets.
