A place in the Big Bash Cricket Final on Saturday awaits the Perth Scorchers or Brisbane Heat on Thursday.
It has been an incredible season to date, and we preview which team will face the Sydney Sixers in the final.
Heat Getting Hot
The season didn’t start well for the Brisbane Heat, which is known to promise but never deliver. However, the Heat are living up to expectations in 2021, and it could result in a spot in the final.
Brisbane defeated the Sydney Thunder by seven wickets to get to this spot. It was a professional outing, and it rebounded from a poor start.
Joe Denly and Chris Lynn got out for 10 runs between them, so there was a lot of work for the rest of the batting lineup to do. Marnus Labuschagne, Sam Heazlett and Jimmy Peirson stepped up to the mark, scoring 169 runs.
The playoff win followed another quality win against the Adelaide Strikers. The Heat’s bowling attack limited the Strikers to only 130 runs, and they chased it down with seven balls remaining.
The Heat are running hot, and they can handle the pressure of the Scorchers.
Scorchers Looking To Rebound
The Perth Scorchers are three-time winners of the Big Bash League, but they’ll need to perform better than they did last week.
Perth allowed Sydney to chase down 167 runs with only one wicket lost. It was a devastating loss for a team that was in form, so they need to rebound this week.
The Scorchers have the talent, with the likes of Colin Munro, Jason Roy, and Mitchell Marsh, but it was the bowlers that got smashed on Saturday. They weren’t able to make inroads against the Sixers, and the Heat has a talent batting lineup as well.
Not in favor of the Scorchers is having to change the venue of the game. Due to an outbreak in Perth, what would have been a home semifinal is now played in Canberra, which helps Brisbane.
It’s a cruel turn of fate, so Perth will need to overcome it.
Bettors Getting Value With Heat
With the change in venue, we expected more money to come for the Brisbane Heat. However, that isn’t the case, as Perth is holding firm as favorites.
There is excellent value with the Brisbane Heat, which always play well at this venue. It should give Brisbane a slight edge in confidence, and that could be enough to tip the scales.
Given the powerful batting lineup for the Heat, and a quality team of bowlers, we think they will win. Momentum is big in sports, especially cricket, so we’re going with a team riding a winning streak.
Bettors get great value with the Heat, and they are the best play for the Big Bash semi final on Thursday.
Pick: Brisbane Heat +105
