EG Boostio Is Leading Evil Geniuses Like No Other

At the onset of the current season of the VCT Americas League, Kelden “Boostio” Pupello of Evil Geniuses was not initially acknowledged as a key figure in the role of in-game leadership within the Americas area.

However, as the Valorant Champions 2023 tournament reached its concluding phases, the captain of EG demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and emerged as one of the most proficient In-Game Leaders in the whole Valorant Champions Tour.

The North American star’s shot-calling improved after he saw videos of the excellent IGL who led Brazil to the Valorant world title last year, LOUD Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro. During an exclusive conversation at Valorant Champions 2023 with ONE Esports, Boostio discussed how he adopted Saadhak’s strongest characteristics as an IGL in order to propel EG to new heights in the upcoming VCT 2023 season.

EG’s North American squad had a rough start to the year, placing 9th through 16th at VCT LOCK//IN. They started off poorly in the VCT Americas League, finishing with a 1-5 record after the first five weeks of play. In another interview, EG’s Ethan “Ethan” Arnold said that the team’s season turned around after they were able to settle their lineup by making Max “Demon1” Mazanov a starting player.

Since bringing on board the famous duelist, EG has risen to prominence as one of the best teams in North America’s Valorant league, earning a runner-up result at Masters Tokyo and a top-three showing at Valorant Champions 2023. Boostio’s evolution into an IGL is another crucial step that contributed to EG’s success. Boostio cited Saadhak’s ability to place his players in advantageous situations as one reason he respects LOUD’s IGL.

I just think the way he uses aspas, and Less does the craziest things,” he remarked. “I believe he prepares them for that; I find it impressive; and I simply mimic what they do.

Among the best duelists and sentinel/controller mains in the VCT are Erick “aspas” Santos and Felipe “Less” Basso. With Saadhak at the helm, the duo has posted remarkable numbers. Boostio does not just research LOUD’s IGL, but also IGLs with a reputation for making excellent calls in the middle rounds. Jake “Boaster” Howlett of Fnatic and Pujan “FNS” Mehta of NRG Esports were cited as two players he frequently observes to better his own mid-rounding.

You can learn a lot from them,” he emphasized. “What kind of agents are implanted there, or where they look to introduce players“.

Boostio said that these teachings were a major factor in the team’s success at Valorant Champions 2023 and their advancement to the championship round. His mindset has been crucial in shaping EG’s current style of play, which is daring and provocative compared to that of other top-shot callers, and this is what sets his IGL approach unique.

He claimed, “We can win any match no matter the deficit as long as I’m in a good mood and not in my own head.“. Pupello added:

If I’m the one making the call, I’ll strive to keep everyone motivated and focused. My optimism is the key to our success“.
