5 teams to watch in 2023 – CS GO Part 1

Back in 2022, the CS GO competitive scene showed it is still growing, with the Tier 1 teams showcasing incredible talent, while lesser known squads pulling multiple upsets and completing Cinderella stories.

In the first 6 months of last year, FaZe Clan was demolishing every single tournament they participated in, grabbing 4 S Tier trophies in their championship era, such the likes of the PGL CS:GO Antwerp Major. Outside of them, other squads managed to take some trophies in that same timeframe, such as Cloud 9 winning the IEM Dallas 2022 trophy.

The second half of the year was the polar opposite results wise, with several underdog lineups like Outsiders and Heroic getting silverware at the IEM CS:GO Rio Major and the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022, respectively.

Viewers received a plethora of exciting plays and games, and way more storylines to continue watching going into this year.

While there are a lot of different teams in the CS GO competitive scene, some of them look more interesting than others this time around.

Let’s take a look at part 1 of our teams to watch in 2023!

Team Liquid

After the signing of Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis to the active lineup, Team Liquid started to evolve into a squad that is able once again of contesting S tier tournaments and even take silverware along the way. This of course gives hope to North American fans, that year by year lose organizations to other regions. The organization came close to securing a couple of trophies, as they pushed their way to the final of the ESL Pro League Season 16 and the BLAST Premier World Final 2022.

YEKINDAR’s addition to the squad helped other members refocus on their own specific talent on the team.

Once they are able to be more consistent, Team Liquid might become a serious threat to everyone in 2023. Even Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski stated in an interview that the team will be able to push for silverware with the current roster.

MOUZ

MOUZ NXT pushed their brand as the most prolific academy in the CS GO competitive scene in the last couple of years. The team managed to win the 4 first editions of the WePlay Academy League, the biggest tier 2 tournament out there. Through last year, MOUZ promoted 3 players into their main ranks, and the overall result has been incredible.

With youngsters constantly coming prepared into the main squad, MOUZ switched from a middle pack team to one of the most dangerous in the scene. Their semifinal campaign at the Rio Major plus taking 5th in HLTV’s ranking for weeks in 2022 is more than enough proof to watch them.
