Ruggah’s tenure with OG will come to an end as a result. It began in January 2020, barely 2 months after the team joined CS:GO. He has served as the only consistent member of the squad that has seen numerous changes throughout the years and has yet to win a LAN prize.
Ruggah, who has worked with companies like OG, OpTic Gaming, and Danish North in the past, adds a fresh perspective to the team and a plethora of experience as a player and coach. This calculated move is anticipated to have a significant impact on Astralis’ first team’s future, improving their output and strengthening their standing in the competitive gaming scene.
In the official statement made on their website Kasper Straube the Sports Director said: “I am happy that we have come to an agreement with Casper, who, in addition to being a really skilled coach, comes with experience from the highest level. This is one of our priorities in the larger analysis work we have done around the requirements for a coach in Astralis and our culture, as well as the expectations we have for all members of our coaching team.
I feel that we have been thorough in mapping out the requirements in relation to both short-term needs and long-term development, and the choice has fallen on Casper, who, in terms of personality and approach to team management, is almost a perfect match. I am very much looking forward to working with him.”
Ruggah to Astralis seems a bit odd but there isn’t a lot of options once the Xizt deal fell through…
Even weirder considering he won’t join until after the Major…could’ve just bought him out and have him coach the team even if he couldn’t stand behind them at the Major…

Casper “ruggah” Due’s appointment as head coach is a calculated decision meant to improve the team’s output and level of competition. Ruggah brings a wealth of expertise and a winning mentality to Astralis, having demonstrated success both as a player and a coach. The Sports Director’s description of the selection procedure, which is obviously quite careful, shows how dedicated the team is to upholding its culture and accomplishing long-term success. Under Ruggah’s direction, the squad is also getting ready for the IEM Chengdu 2024, and the esports world is excited to see this new chapter in Astralis’ legendary history come to life.
When it came to replacing Casele, Astralis did not approach just one coach, Ruggah. Talks went down, but it appeared like former Heroic coach Richard “Xizt” Landström would be joining the Danish organization. On January 7, the Swedish coach stated in a letter that he was still accepting proposals for the 2024 campaign.
Astralis had to make it through the closed qualifications in order to go to the European RMRs, thus they have a busy start to the season. The Danish squad is in Poland for IEM Katowice, but first they are in BLAST Premier Spring Groups. Fans are excited to see how this team performs in competitive play with the new head coach addition.
