Ninjas in Pyjamas have had an incredible journey at PGL Astana 2025. After fighting their way back into Tier 1 Counter Strike tournaments, they’ve impressively reached the Playoffs on their first try, achieving a notable rank of 24 in the Valve Regional Standings. Their last challenge was against G2, who were using their head coach TaZ as a substitute. Despite G2’s circumstances, this victory is a significant achievement for NIP and shows how far they’ve come recently.
NIP didn’t just stumble into the PGL Astana Playoffs, they genuinely look strong. It wouldn’t be surprising if they advance even further in this tournament, which seemed like a far off dream for IGL Snappi and an NIP roster who have managed to miss several Tier 1 events in 2025. It will all depend on their performance against a top 3 organization in Team Spirit. The CIS roster has been suffering more than usual, which could present an opportunity for NIP this time around. The community can’t wait to see how they perform in front of the crowd in Astana.

PGL Astana has seen a plethora of upsets, however the community has always seen Aurora as a possible title contender, or deep runners at least. The Playoffs were the original target for the rebranded roster, however it didn’t come as easily as they expected, qualifying after a grueling 3-2 series. Ever since the Eternal Fire roster was bought out by Aurora, they have consistently placed themselves in the top 10 global list. Nevertheless, the roster has not been able to push into a grand final in 2025.
Lately, they haven’t been playing at their best and are lucky to have faced an ODDIK team that hasn’t really impressed during the tournament. Still, they managed to win against the teams they faced, which is what matters. Now that they’ve secured their spot in the Playoffs, it will be interesting to see if they can keep improving and go further in PGL Astana 2025. The next few days will be crucial, as their matchup with the MongolZ might be one if not the most volatile series in the playoffs.
