Aurora sends Armel to the bench

Armel “Armel” Tabios, the mid laner for Southeast Asian Dota 2 team Aurora, has been placed on the inactive list. Through his social media accounts, Aurora made the announcement. Days have passed since the team’s DreamLeague Season 22 performance, during which Artem “lorenof” Melnick served as a stand-in midlaner. It was then disclosed that Armel had become a father. At that point, it was reported that Armel would not be able to participate in the event because of personal obligations. Lorenof is most likely going to be the team’s new mid laner going forward, while the successor has not yet been revealed, given Aurora’s sporadic bursts of elite play throughout DreamLeague Season 22. One of the SEA Dota 2 veterans is Armel. He started competing when he was just 16 years old, and he quickly made his way to the international scene, taking part in The International 2018 at the age of just 18. The gifted mid laner has tasted the pinnacles of the game. And it appears that he is now turning his attention to his private life. Armel made the announcement of his first child’s birth on Facebook on February 25. Armel decided to prioritize his family above the current DreamLeague Season 22 as a result. Armel has shifted to the inactive roster of Aurora, most likely due to this exciting new phase of fatherhood.

In Aurora’s starting lineup, Armel is benched, leaving a space open. Artem “lorenof” Melnick, a Ukrainian mid laner, came in for Armel during DreamLeague Season 22. The outcome was excellent, with Aurora securing a strong top 8 position. Because of the language and cultural barriers, Aurora may decide not to pursue a long-term relationship with Lorenof.

The squad, which finished as the top team in Southeast Asia the previous year, hasn’t had the best beginning to the competitive season in 2024. After a difficult series, they qualified for DreamLeague Season 22 but were unable to advance to ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 or ESL One Birmingham 2024. The team had one of the worst performances at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, finishing between ninth and twelfth. But with lorenof filling in, Aurora had one of the best starts to DreamLeague Season 22, sweeping the Dota 2 community with her outstanding performances. Incredibly, the squad unexpectedly took a 180-degree turn in the DreamLeague Season 22 second stage, losing multiple close series before being eliminated. The performance of the event in the early going was unquestionably its greatest asset, as Lorenof demonstrated his ability to lead from the midlane. Along with winning lanes, he also kept winning matches with 23savage. It is therefore essential that he join Aurora. However, it is unclear what Armel has planned for the future, including whether he would take a long leave of absence to spend more time with his family. Aurora is scheduled to begin play in the Elite League on March 31, 2024. The group was directly invited to the Swiss stage of the tournament. Fans are eager to see how Aurora decides to resolve their problem.
