Best Top Laners in The Summer Season

1. LEC – G2 Brokenblade

  • 44 KDA
  • 0.3 AVG Deaths per game
  • 8.6 CSM
  • 707 DPM / 28.7 DMG%
  • 477 GPM

Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik is leading the KDA leaderboard by quite a lot as Team Liquid’s Bwipo is the next one in the list with 29. It’s also important to note that the German top laner played Gangplank and Yone, the latter being a very unusual pick in the top lane, though he showed his expertise on this champion. Brokenblade is tied with his fellow mid laner Caps for the highest number of kills in the LEC with 19 each, and at the same time racking up 25 assists and only 1 death.

Fun fact, he is tied in the KDA department with fellow G2 member Victor “Flakked” Lirola Tortosa. Both of them and Targamas, G2’s support, all have the same kill participation percentage too. Right now, the G2 team is looking unstoppable, and their top laner has become a huge determining factor in their victories.

Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik, top laner for G2 Esports

Last split, it was impossible for the rest of the competition to know what kind of strategy G2 would use as they were constantly changing their playstyle and the way they drafted, which is something that skewed the lol odds in their favor. It wouldn’t be too crazy to see them finish at the top of the standings this summer split.

2. LCK – T1 Zeus

Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, top laner for T1
  • 3.5 KDA
  • 75% KP
  • 18 CSD@15
  • 660 DPM / 31.9%
  • 1385 GD@15

We rank Choi “Zeus” Woo-je 2nd in this list not only because of his pristine laning phase, but because of his amazing teamwork too. Zeus has the highest KP% amongst all the top laners in the main regions with 75%, which is incredibly high for any top laner. He is also #1 when it comes to CSD & GD@15, which he has used to the advantage for his team.

Let’s get it out of the way, Zeus didn’t perform as we were all expecting in the 2022 MSI playoffs. But we can be sure of one thing, was the most dominant top laner in the LCK spring split, and this summer split he is looking to repeat the feat. So far, we’ve seen him play champions like Gangplank, Gnar and Jayce, which are basically the same champions we saw last split.

I think that Zeus is going to end up being considered the best top laner in the LCK, and I’m taking into account that Nuguri is back in the league. As long as the meta doesn’t make any huge changes, Zeus is going to be in a very comfortable spot, just like the rest of the T1 squad.

3. LCK – NS Canna

Kim “Canna” Chang-dong, top laner for Nongshim RedForce
  • 70.2% KP
  • 526 DPM / 25.8 DMG%
  • 8.5 CSM
  • 5 Solo Kills

Kim “Canna” Chang-dong is a name that we haven’t heard in a while as he’s been under the radar for a lot of people just because he isn’t playing for a top team like T1 or GenG. But he’s far from being a bad top laner as his numbers represent just how consistent he can be. The highlight is that he’s scored 5 solo kills so far, which is the highest of any top laner in a main region.

The impressive thing is that he already faced players like Zeus and Kiin, which are some of the best tops in the league. He has been able to keep up in the KP% department as 70% is still quite high, though it is a bit lower than Zeus’. We still have to see if Canna can keep up this type of performance throughout the rest of the regular season, though there is nothing that indicates otherwise.

That’s it for our top laner rankings in the 2022 summer season. It’s important to mention that we took both stats and performances into account when making this list. Be sure to keep an eye on our esports picks as we’ll be covering a wide variety of leagues around the world!
