Biggest Takeaways From The LCS 2023 Spring Split So Far
Each of the top League of Legends teams in North America has faced each other once as the first round robin of the LCS Spring Split has concluded. Nonetheless, after the first four weeks of competition, it is still safe to say that practically every team in the league has a chance to push for a high playoff seed.
The title race is intensifying as we enter the second round robin, with the top three teams separated by just one game. Before the regular split concludes on March 17, each of those teams will have one final opportunity to face one another. Whether you were completely blown away by some teams’ performances or you nailed your preseason power rankings, the first round robin of the Spring Split was packed with a lot of excitement.

FlyQuest Is The Best Team In The LCS
Everyone anticipated that the FlyQuest squad, which had two LCS champions, a past league MVP, and two of Korea’s most well-rounded carry players, would do well in the LCS. But FlyQuest has outperformed all predictions with its current streak to begin the 2023 season.
Having won eight of their first nine games and dominating the league in seven different team-wide stat categories, including dragon control rate, first blood percentage, and average gold differential, among others, FlyQuest are by far the most productive team in the LCS this season.
Remember that Winsome has served as FlyQuest’s stand-in support for the entirety of their games thus far. The team has the ability to improve once its regularly scheduled starter Eyla is permitted to play after the easing of visa restrictions. This week, FlyQuest will play 100 Thieves and DIG to open the second round robin.

Golden Guardians Are Way Better Than Expected
The center of the table has been so shaken up that one game might knock a team out of the planned playoff bracket, while the top of the LCS is proceeding as expected. The two teams who emerged from the middle of the pack with winning records after the first round robin (TSM and Golden Guardians) don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, as fourth through eighth place are now separated by just one game.
The Guardians were regarded as one of the weakest teams heading into the season by both fans and analysts, and after starting the year with a four-game losing skid, it appeared as though they would live up to that reputation. They’ve gotten back on track with a five-game winning streak, defeating their main rivals TSM, CLG, and 100 Thieves in the process.

Zven Knows To Spice Things Up
Almost all of esports trash talk consists of potshots that have been softened and made Twitter-safe that are then used as talking points on an analyst desk segment to generate phony excitement before the most tedious game you’ve ever seen. After the game on Friday night, when C9 support Zven genuinely confronted Liquid ADC Yeon and told him to “get back to the Academy,” it seemed sincere, intense, and honestly quite energizing.
However, conflict becomes monotonous and old when everyone on campus attempts to behave like the big man. Yet, it is a welcome sight in any sport once in a while to witness competitors exchanging verbal blows. And despite the fact that Zven expressed regret to Liquid and Yeon for his big-leaguing, handshake-denying gesture on Friday (a veteran move, by the way), you can be sure that every LCS supporter will have the rematch on March 10 highlighted on their calendar.
