Where is he coming from?

The Korean mid laner began his competitive journey back in 2022 with HLE Academy. He then progressed to HLE Challengers in 2023, initially as a substitute and later as a starter this year. In 2024, he achieved 4th place in Spring and 6th in Summer. Although his individual stats in LCK Challengers weren’t the strongest, he now has the opportunity to prove himself in a Tier 1 tournament plus doing so with one of the best teams in the region.

An article from esports news outlet Sheep Esports states that Loki has come to a verbal agreement with Cloud 9 to take on the role of starting mid laner for the North American juggernauts in 2025. After jojopyun unexpectedly departed to join Spanish organization MDK in the LEC, Cloud 9 has been searching thoroughly for a new player during the offseason. The team has a history of bringing in talent from Korea, having previously signed players like EMEN3s, Berserker, and Thanatos. This time, Cloud 9 is looking at the LCK Challengers League once again, as they also considered Dplus KIA Challengers mid laner Kang “Saint” Sung-in for the position.

Cloud 9 has big plans

C9 had a rough season, they didn’t make Worlds for the first time in the organization’s history, a massive blow to their reputation. Even though they had one of the best rosters on paper, they struggled towards the last stretch and ended up losing to 100 Thieves in the LCS Championship Series. After the season wrapped up, ADC Berserker announced he would be leaving the team after 3 years. Jojopyun has also been confirmed to join MDK. Zven, who is coming back to the button lane role, will take Berserker’s place, and Loki has been brought in to round out the team for 2025. Alongside Zven, Loki will team up with top laner Thanatos, jungler Blaber, and support Vulcan.

It is fair to say fans have lost a bit of hope especially around the veterans Blaber and Vulcan, who have consistently been outperformed internationally and this year even in their regional league. Nevertheless, you can never count Cloud 9 out, as the organization is one of the most decorated in the LCS.
