Rather Dominant First Map

In this fixture, the maps selected were Sunset by G2 ESports and Pearl by Cloud 9, with Bind being the deciding map. Cloud 9’s attack side was really strong, while G2 struggled with their pistols and bonus rounds while looking to find some momentum. The match kicked off on Sunset, where Cloud 9 took both the pistol and bonus round, giving them an early advantage economy wise. G2 needed to finish the 1st half confidently to stay competitive, and they managed to do just that, going into halftime with a close scoreline of 7-5.

As the 2nd half started, Cloud 9 won the pistol round once again and quickly overwhelmed G2 after that. OXY went absolutely ballistic on Neon, and Xeppaa made a crucial 3K on Breach out of all agents. Soon after, Cloud 9 completely dominated the 2nd half, ultimately winning the map without giving a single round to their EMEA rivals, 13-5.

G2 was not able to change the story

G2 was in a do or die situation on Pearl. Cloud 9 started strong, maintaining their perfect record in pistol rounds with another clutch and bonus conversion, surprising their opponents with an extremely aggressive entry to the site early on. But just like in the first map, G2 managed to stop their momentum quite a bit, thanks to an incredible play from JonahP. They later struggled to stop Cloud 9 from taking their sites and winning post plant setups, especially with the heavy utility from their Astra. Similar to Map 1, G2 made adjustments late in the half to keep the game close, ending the half at 8-4.

Nevertheless, Cloud 9 had other plans, as they continued their dominance by winning 4 consecutive pistol rounds in the series. OXY was named MVP, outshining jawgemo with an impressive 43 kills over a single series, along with 13 entry frags. With this victory, Cloud 9 has secured a spot in the Red Bull Home Ground finals, where they will face the winner between T1 and FUT Esports.
