North American based organization Cloud 9 has set their sights to sign 2 brand new players to finish out their VALORANT roster, as reported by sources via Dot Esports.
After both Cloud 9 stars vanity and yay departed the squad, Cloud 9 was in a tough position while looking to rebuild as soon as possible a roster ready to compete in the highest VALORANT level. As of the moment, Cloud 9 is just about to complete the signings of Jake Anderson and Dylan “runi” Cade for their starting lineup. If the signings conclude without any problems, Cloud 9 is set to battle in the Americas international league, which is set to start in a couple of weeks.
Ex Soniqs player runi will most likely pick up the “In Game Leader” role for the squad, a position that has previously not been working well for the North Americans. He played under the Soniqs brand from April 2022 to January 2023. As for the second player, Jake, he has only competed in collegiate VALORANT since the start of 2023.
Jake has made multiple attempts to qualify for the Challengers league back in January of this year with his former squad NSIC, which featured decent players including the likes of Lucas “fiziq” Blow and Chad “Oderus” Miller. NSIC ultimately failed to qualify for the tournament after a tough loss to Team Major Academy in the 1st round of the lower bracket.
Cloud 9’s loyal fans will most likely have high expectations for the upcoming duo, taking into account they will have to fill the shoes of 2 incredible players in yay and vanity. Former in-game leader vanity had quite a long history with the North American organization and was a key piece in transforming the squad into one of the best in the region.

Rumor also has it that they are trialing THE FIGURE as replacement for vanity. 👀

As for the second player leaving Cloud 9, yay, was known as the best mechanical player in the world back in 2022. He played a total of 7 matches with Cloud 9 before cutting ties with the organization. Both players are currently teamless before the start of the league.
The main reason expressed by both organization and players as to why the team didn’t perform to expectations was a lack of synergy in roles. Within VALORANT roles such as duelists, sentinels, in-game leaders, and agent specialists have to be in sync to perform to the highest level. In the previous Cloud 9 roster, the squad was not able to fill themselves throughout all roles with constant changes coming in without results.
Cloud 9 are set to battle Evil Geniuses in their 1st match of the Americas international league on April 3rd.
