It’s been quite an interesting weekend of esports bets with the qualifying rounds of the North American VCT Game Changers series coming to an end. A total of eight teams are now qualified for the main event, and to the surprise of none, Cloud 9 White managed to earn their spot this time around as well.
The three time and current defending champions didn’t have an easy weekend by any means, and started off the tournament with an unfortunate forfeit against Immortals after C9W arrived late to the previously scheduled match start. This sent the team down immediately into the lower bracket, a position we have never seen them fight from before in Game Changers history.
Cloud 9 White as expected took down Gen.G Black 2-0 in their first match on Saturday, however, the esports odds projected a more exciting match as they met a much stronger opponent in team Misfits Black.
The series started off on Misfits’ map pick, Fracture, the most interesting section of the map was the duel between MeL of C9W and Vernina of Misfits Black. MeL has one of the most successful resumes in women’s VALORANT and absolutely stands out on her team, especially when playing her best operator Chamber. However on Saturday, Vernina gave MeL a true battle, winning the head to head mirror match in Chamber, dueling without fear on several occasions and showing she too has upgraded her tactics on the agent.
The first half point of Fracture ended with a tied scoreline at six rounds per team. Misfits Black were reading C9W’s strategy rather easily unlike few teams have before. The only time Misfits actually looked weak was during post plant scenarios, because they were often over committing abilities to get onsite instead of saving a couple of them for once the spike went down.
Ultimately Misfits took Fracture 13-10, with 11 of their round wins coming from straight duels against their opponents. Despite the dazzling Chamber matchup, Zoe was the star of the game, ending with a +11 overall rating.
Moving on to the second map Haven, everyone noted this was the closest we had ever seen C9W to tournament elimination, with only one map to come back and save their chances of moving to the main stage.
While in Haven, Jazzy swapped Neon for Raze, while Bob, the newest member of C9W, locked in Fade. So far in this tournament, Bob has fit rather easily into C9W’s roster after replacing Annie earlier in June. It was also clear the team had a lot of confidence in Bob; on multiple occasions she was the only member of the team who had a rifle, with the team regularly choosing to eco in order to provide better weapons for her.
This strategy worked well for C9W and they were dominant on attack. The team was cutting up the map and executing aggressive strategies that allowed them to approach the sites with ease while rapidly picking up space on site, winning the map in a stunning 13-4 scoreline.
Misfits unfortunately struggled similarly on Bind, though Vernina once again showed her expertise on Chamber and was by far the best performing player on the team. Nevertheless, MeL and Bob were just too strong and completely dominated the map in true C9W fashion.
C9W will be moving to the main event with Dignitas, TSM X, Immortals, Shopify Rebellion, alongside free agent teams Dart Monkeys, Ariana Grande Perfume, and Sanri-O’s. Notable eliminations from the main event are CLG Red, XSET, Version X, and Gen.G Black, who were eliminated in the Closed Qualifier stage.
Game Changers NA is set to continue on Wednesday, July 6th at 3pm CST.
We’ve plenty of esports betting for you to consider and many others.
