Complexity: From Challenger to Contender
Complexity has finished a trade swap in their active CSGO roster, bringing AWP main Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli while moving Paytyn “junior” Johnson to a substitute role ahead of a possible transfer to a new team.
Hallzerk became a free agent in the past month, following Dignitas’ hiatus from the competitive CSGO scene after coming in with the core of the well known legendary NiP roster starting in 2020. Hallzerk joined forces with Dignitas in the famed core of f0rest, friberg, GeT_RiGhT, and Xizt. Both GeT_RiGhT and Xizt did leave before the year actually ended, and Dignitas as a team struggled to compete on a global scale while constantly swapping in different players from Norway and Sweden to hopefully find a sweet spot.
Unfortunately for the second straight year, Junior has been moved from the starting active roster to the inactive one around six to seven months after signing with a North American roster at the beginning of the year, this was after a six month playing time with FURIA in the first half of 2021, and now another half a year with Complexity in 2022.
Complexity came back to the North American scene at the beginning of this year after a brief hiatus with their European roster at the end of 2021. Their Danish based players moved on to other teams such as Astralis and NiP. Complexity acquired the previously known Extra Salt core of JT, FaNg, and floppy, while bringing Grim away from Team Liquid and junior from the FURIA bench. The team has unfortunately struggled on the international level similarly to Dignitas, having negative records at ESL Pro League, IEM Dallas and Cologne, and the PGL Antwerp Major.
Hallzerk will look to play for Complexity at BLAST Premier Fall Groups and ESL Pro League Season 16 this upcoming month, and hopefully bring some wins back to the team.
Now going into Evil Geniuses, Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg, the mastermind behind all previous Copenhagen Flames rosters, is almost done signing with Evil Geniuses to coach its starting CSGO team, according to a report by Blix.
The roster centered around Timothy “autimatic” Ta has been without a proper coach since Damien “maLeK” Marcel was sent to the bench in May after EG sadly failed to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major. He allegedly had a rough patch with the squad. The former captain Jake “Stewie2K” Yip was criticized by maLeK’s assistant coach Paolo “EVY” Berbudeau for having a poor attitude and lack of professionalism in the workplace.
Vorborg, has been a free agent since June 2022. He parted ways with Copenhagen Flames, his only team since 2016, after the organization posted to transfer its entire roster to create a new one. The Dane has a strong record of signing rookie talent in Denmark or giving an opportunity to players that were on the sidelines for a long time.
The former Copenhagen Flames esports director and coach put together the core of Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi, Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard, and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen. These players led Copenhagen Flames to two Major appearances, at PGL Stockholm Major in 2021 and later on PGL Antwerp Major in 2022, where they reached the playoffs under the tutelage of Vorborg.
In addition to reportedly signing Vorborg, EG is also looking to sign Team Vitality’s Kevin “misutaaa” Rabier and K23’s Sanjar “neaLaN” İshakov, according to 1pv.fr. This duo is set to replace William “RUSH” Wierzba and Stewie2K. The latter left the competitive scene today to become a streamer under the EG network.
