CS GO star EliGE officially joins Complexity ahead of CS2

Team Liquid, EliGE, and Complexity have officially reached an agreement that will see the North American CS star join what will most likely be one of the few NA teams left in the scene. After a possible move to Evil Geniuses fell through, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski will arrive at Complexity’s CS GO division.

The 25 year old North American veteran ultimately decided to stay with a NA squad moving forward, while Team Liquid opted to switch regions becoming a European Team. Team Liquid’s region swap was definitely unexpected, however their VALORANT division also made the switch around 2 years ago, with the only NA squad left being their League of Legends roster.

The signings of Bulgarian rifler Aleks “Rainwaker” Petrov and Russian rifler Robert “Patsi” Isyanov meant EliGE was officially out of the squad before the second half of the CS GO cycle. Many options presented themselves for EliGE, reportedly including a possible switch to European side Evil Geniuses, however talks broke down for that deal.

According to previous reports during this week, EG had a true interest for both EliGE and former NAVI player Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, with “verbal agreements” happening during negotiations. On top of that, Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko and Audric “JACKZ” Jug were also in the cards to create a rather unexpected brand new EU roster for EG, however no deals have officially been communicated by the side. Sadly for EG fans it seems the organization has not been able to acquire most of the pieces they looked for before the release of CS2, with EliGE now joining Complexity.

EliGE will see a familiar face at his new team with former Team Liquid member Michael “Grim” Wince, while teaming up with Norwegian AWP main Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli. Of course it wasn’t good news for everyone involved in the deal, as Complexity moved Justin “FaNg” Coakley out of the roster in order to bring EliGE in.

After this roster shuffle period, the North American scene is set to change drastically. On paper, Complexity has become the best NA squad after both Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses started to migrate to Europe. Thus the Americas qualifiers and RMR tournaments moving forward will feature mostly Tier 2 competition within the region. Of course it is needless to say that it isn’t an entirely negative scenario for the region, especially after Tier 2 teams within Europe such as Into the Breach and GamerLegion managed to find incredible success in Tier 1 tournaments.

As for EliGE, soon after the player break, he will make his debut under Complexity at the BLAST Premier Fall Group Stage set to start July 13th.
