Dignitas breaks up curse completing huge upset in LCS

For the first time in the 2023 LCS season, Dignitas has officially won a game on the LCS main stage. Their latest game being a massive upset over 2nd place Evil Geniuses, Dignitas has finally put themselves on the board for the year. Nevertheless, the game was rather interesting to say the least, as Dignitas technically threw an 8000 gold lead in just a couple of plays before finally pushing into EG’s Nexus and managing to take their first win of the season.

In true Dignitas fashion, the squad held an 8000 gold lead by the 30-minute point, and the black and yellow squad made a push to hopefully close things out, only to be stopped in an incredible Nexus defense by EG.

DIG’s first chance of getting a win was still in doubt, but a massive 5 man Emperor’s Divide from Jensen’s Azir was the clutch play needed, ultimately securing the victory for Dignitas.

The main change seen within the DIG’s playstyle was their proactiveness toward objectives, something that was missing throughout the entire season. Before the first nexus push catastrophe, Dignitas was contesting every single drake and herald buff that spawned on the map. In this game, Dignitas killed 4 dragons, while taking their first baron buff of the season.

After this matchup, Dignitas showcased a record of 1-9. As for any chances of finishing positive or even, after losing all 9 games of the first round robin of the LCS 2023 Spring Split, Dignitas would need to win all of their remaining games to finish the split with an even record.

Dignitas as an organization has been on the downfall for years, however, normally they manage to push into the mid-table of the LCS. Had they lost against EG, they would have become the first team in LCS history to start a split with 10 consecutive losses. Even though double-digit losses have happened in several seasons, no team has begun a North American LCS split with 10 straight losses. Fans were happy seeing their first point on the board, but that is just a flake of gold in an entire bucket of dirt. The only other organization in LCS history to start a season with 9 straight losses was Team Dragon Knights all the way back in the 2015 Summer Split.

Dignitas will attempt to complete another massive upset when they battle against 1st place team, FlyQuest, who currently hold a polar opposite record of 9-1 for the 2023 LCS Split. Management has already made a change by placing Tomo as the starting bot laner, however, more changes could come if more wins cannot be achieved.
