Dignitas roster change approved after underwhelming start to LCS campaign
Dignitas has officially announced that their LCS division team will be making a roster change going into the second round robin of the 2023 LCS Spring Split, replacing Spawn with Tomo at the bot lane position.
The player-for-player lineup swap at bot lane will see the squad’s starter, Spawn, play for the Dignitas’ Challenger/Academy tier squad. In their announcement, Dignitas made quick notice of Tomo’s overall proficiency in the laning phase as the main reason for his promotion into the Tier 1 roster. As of the moment, Tomo leads the NACL in gold difference at 10 minutes, as well as XP difference at 10 minutes, thanks to statistics taken from League of Legends website Oracle’s Elixir. On top of that it also ranks in the top 5 out of all players in the league for gold per minute, damage per minute, and CS per minute. This stats definitely back up Dignitas’ claim on his talent relying in the laning phase, however, Tomo will need to keep this status going against tougher opposition in the LCS.

Dignitas Challengers currently rank in 2nd place of the NACL. The squad has not lost a single best-of-two series throughout the season. Taking a deeper look into the best of two games, Dignitas Challengers currently boast a record of 18-4, a total polar opposite to their starting LCS squad, who sadly for fans have not won a single game all year long.
Dignitas’ tier 1 squad finished 0-9 in the first round-robin stage of the 2023 LCS Spring Split, basically forcing the hand of the organization’s back office into making a change. For this week, things will not get any easier for Dignitas, as they will need to sustain a match against 2 of the best teams in the league in FlyQuest and Evil Geniuses, both squads ranking first and second on the standings respectively.
Tomo will officially be a starter for both matches, facing against LCS veteran FBI and bot lane Korean import prodigy Prince. Tomo last played an LCS match back in 2021, and fans should be setting expectations low at first, as the player will most likely take some time to adjust in 2023 LCS level.
Taking a look at the other side of the situation, this is an incredibly important opportunity for Tomo. Researching his statistics, the player has certainly improved since his brief playing stint in the LCS back in 2021, and will provide some much needed aggressiveness to a rather stale Dignitas playing style. Only time will tell if Tomo can impress fans and competitors alike moving forward.
