A Nail Biting Showdown

On DRX’s home map, Abyss, the grand final got underway with a decisive 13-3 win. Free1ng’s excellent performance on Tejo, which resulted in 21 kills and cemented his reputation as one of the world’s best agents, was the driving cause for their dominance on Abyss. T1 defeated Lotus 13-6 thanks to critical plays by Meteor and Stax.

At halftime, DRX led 8-4 thanks to the critical third map, Fracture. T1 fought hard, however, and narrowed the gap to 11-9. With a miraculously thrifty round powered by BeYN’s Breach utility and Free1ng’s tactical skill, DRX kept their cool and won the map 13-9.

Bind, the fourth map, was a test of resilience for both teams. DRX held a narrow 7-5 halftime lead, but T1’s Meteor and carpe delivered clutch plays to force overtime. T1 capitalized on their momentum, winning six straight rounds to force the series to a decider on Split.

The Road to Victory

Split proved to be the battleground where DRX won the long awaited trophy. Despite losing the opening pistol round, DRX recovered momentum with a heroic Guardian buy from MaKo, taking a 6-1 lead. T1 rallied back, keeping the halftime score at 7-5.

As both sides swapped rounds in the second half, the game was too close to call. However, free1ng’s flashes of brilliance and HYUNMIN’s breakout effort, which included 29 kills, helped DRX win 13-11. HYUNMIN’s outstanding 92 kill series performance was crucial in clinching the championship.

In addition to winning their first VCT title, DRX secured the top seed in the Pacific for Masters Bangkok. Their journey to Champions Paris was made possible by the three essential title points they collected. T1 finishes the tournament with two championship points and a good second seed in the Masters, despite the defeat.

Both clubs have set high expectations for the season, and with DRX’s return to form and T1’s developing proficiency, the stage is set for more exciting confrontations in the coming months. We are excited for the Masters Bangkok and we expect some great matches with the best teams in the world.
