Dynamic duos that can make a difference at the IEM Rio Major – CS GO

After almost 11 years of incredible action, CS GO players have raised the bar for the entire industry, constantly improving and making things harder for each other one tournament at a time. Soon on October 31st, the biggest Major ever assembled (IEM Rio Major), will host the best teams in the world to clash it out and see who takes the grand prize pool.

The Brazilian-hosted Major is looking to be the biggest one yet, with the highest possible crowd space, incredible teams, experience on-air talent, and the CS GO magic we all know and love.

After some renowned squads like G2 Esports and Astralis missed the Major for the first time in their respective history, you know the best organizations with fresh talent have come to dominate the Rio de Janeiro main stage.

Some teams are seen as absolute favorites to win it all. Some of them are expected to do so thanks to the joint effort of their dynamic duos’ in-game prowess. With a whopping 24 teams ready to storm the stage in Rio de Janeiro, today we are going to take a look at 2 player combos that can push their teams to the trophy.

Team Liquid’s EliGE and YEKINDAR

Team Liquid have been coming back to life after recent underwhelming tournaments, making incredible campaigns in key CS GO events and climbing the rankings of currently the best squads around the world. The catalysts behind this recent success have been Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski.

The first joined Team Liquid as a substitute before IEM Cologne 2022 started and quickly promoted himself as a key part of Liquids renaissance. He assisted the squad to adapt their strategy, while also changing his role to entry fragger.

YEKINDAR’s signing also helped EliGE to take a newly found rifler role, which made him look like the old juggernaut he was, proving he is still one of the best NA native talents in CS GO history.

This incredible duo allowed Team Liquid to grab 3rd place in HLTV’s global ranking for the first time since February 2020, and the team have once again become NA’s best chance of winning a Major, with their minds set on the 2022 IEM CS GO Major.

Team Vitality’s ZywOo and Spinx

A huge part of Vitality’s firepower comes from two generational players, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Lotan “Spinx” Giladi.

Vitality had an underwhelming start to 2022 when they couldn’t find their mojo as a team. Still, ZywOo continued to highlight his incredible form in their recent tournaments, taking a record for most kills in a single CS GO series by claiming 143 kills in the grand finals against Liquid.

Vitality’s single transfer in the recent player break was signing Spinx, who similar to YEKINDAR, helped Vitality adapt the team roles and dynamics, allowing other players to run back to their high peak performance.

Spinx is a “do it all” kind of player, thanks to that adaptability in strategy and Spinx’s individual mechanical prowess, Vitality grabbed the trophy and rapidly switched into one of the best squads in the world.
