ENCE Takes Down 2-1 Vitality In EPL 17 Playoffs

ENCE managed to beat Vitality 2-1 in the final quarter-final of ESL Pro League Season 17 to continue their run at the competition after earlier defeating the world’s number one rated team, G2. Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer and company lost their pick of Nuke (14-16), but won Overpass (16-11) and Vertigo (16-11). (16-14). Guy “NertZ” Iluz, a newcomer to the finals, established his worth with 23 kills and a spectacular 1vs4 clutch in the first half.

This is the end of the road for Vitality in Malta. During the group stage, the squad played with Audric “JACKZ” Jug in lieu of Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, and the team won three matches in a row, with the Frenchman putting up fantastic performances and a 1.26 rating. They were able to field a complete team in the quarter-finals but were defeated in a nail-biting match, with their attention now shifting to the European RMR, which begins on April 11.

On Nuke, Vitality made a fantastic start on the CT side, turning around the early exchanges after dropping the pistol and converting. They were able to withstand ENCE’s typical onslaught and were shortly ahead 6-4. Just when ENCE appeared to be regaining control of the game, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and dupreeh joined up to win a 2vs4 situation to maintain them ahead. That gave their CT team the push they needed, as they limited ENCE’s defense to just one round and won the first half 10-5.

At the start of the half, ZywOo stole the spotlight, hitting two precise shots in the pistol round and winning a 1vs2 clutch in an anti-eco to put Vitality up 13-5. ENCE, on the other hand, was not about to give up and began clawing back at the deficit with a five-round streak following Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia was finally able to put an AWP on the map. Vitality steadied and took the lead in the series after reaching map point first at 15-13 after securing Nuke in thirty rounds.

Overpass was up next, and ENCE got off to a fast start with a quad-kill with the pistol from Pavle “Maden” Bokovi. Vitality were sluggish to get going, with only five kills in the opening six rounds of play and no round wins to their name. With a triple to secure Vitality’s opening round, ZywOo helped open up the B site, but it did little to affect the pace of the game. SunPayus provided the majority of the impact with 25 kills and a 2.56 rating as ENCE returned to winning ways with an outstanding CT side to post 13 rounds at the half.

ENCE’s rampage on the T side continued as they won a dominant pistol round to reach 14. Spinx secured a quad-kill to delay the inevitable in the second-round forcebuy, and the Dan “apEX” Madesclaire-led team began to close the gap. Dupreeh then won a 1vs1 clutch on low health and took Vitality into double digits at 10-14, giving his squad even more confidence. ENCE did cross the finish line, though, as a pistol rush of the A site resulted in a 16-11 triumph.

Vertigo began with Vitality winning the pistol and then relying on Emil “Magisk” Reif to clutch a 1vs3 against a half-buy. ENCE forced again in the next round and won it 6-3 as NertZ showed great trigger discipline to win a 1vs4 match. However, that was the most ENCE could do as they didn’t post a single round for the rest of the half and went into the offensive three rounds behind.

ENCE once again won the initial force-buy wars, immediately tying the scores at 10-10 and putting their economy in a solid position. With the game on the line, ZywOo woke up and scored nine kills in two rounds to put Vitality ahead 14-11, bringing his kill total to 30. With their backs against the wall, newcomer NertZ stepped up to the plate. He initially grabbed a 1vs1 to break Vitality’s money, tying the score at 14-14, then finding an amazing triple through smoke to put ENCE over the line, 16-14, and book their place in the EPL S17 semi-finals.
