Ethan, Demon1 and Marved join NRG
NRG has formally established a VALORANT monster team for itself. As it was, they had kept Crashies, Victor, and Marved, so they already had a strong team. They recently recruited Ethan and Demon1 from the Evil Geniuses team, which won VALORANT Champions but is disbanding due to serious executive mismanagement that is upending the company. In keeping with the villain era storyline from EG, NRG is referring to this Valorant roster as their “Revenge Tour” team. They are optimistic that this new roster will help them achieve the success they have been seeking in 2023.

Evil Geniuses was engulfed in controversy as a result of rumors of unresolved contracts and inadequate pay that caused Demon1 and Ethan to leave. A few days later, EG’s management disclosed that it had turned down multiple takeover proposals, including NRG’s USD 100,000 offer for Demon1 and Ethan. Although the exact amount paid by NRG to acquire the superstar pair is still unknown, it is a significant sum given that EG has previously rejected a number of offers.
Marved is one of the new pieces the organization has brought in, and he helped Sentinels end the year on a positive note. After taking a hiatus from the game, he joined the Sentinels in the middle of the season and had to lead the team as an IGL to a respectable conclusion. Demon1 and Ethan, two more Valorant champions, were also brought in. A Cinderella run by EG to win Valorant Champions 2023 was led by Demon1, a rookie who stunned the Valorant world.

One of the main factors contributing to the team’s success was Ethan. With the most assists at the end of the year, he led VCT Americas 2023. They introduced incredible players, particularly considering that Crashies, Marved, and Victor are teammates and Ethan and Victor were also former CS teammates. The team is undoubtedly younger and more explosive at the core, and they should perform far better than they did in the past. Chet responded to the publication to confirm that Ethan will serve as the IGL.
NRG and EG were tied for the majority of 2023. In league play, NRG came in second place to EG’s third, and LOUD defeated both of them for first place. EG advanced to the grand finals at Masters Tokyo, while NRG finished in 4th place. Nevertheless, NRG lost to Bilibili Gaming two times in the Champions group stage and was unable to advance past it. EG went on to win the competition as a whole.
Starting on February 16, VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Americas KICK-OFF will be the first event featuring NRG’s new roster. Ten teams from VCT Americas 2023 and G2 Esports, who were pushed by Ascension 2023, will compete in the tournament. The event’s top two teams will advance to the Masters Madrid tournament in March 2024.
The Americas league seems to be ready to take advantage of having arguably the most significant players from both NRG and EG on one roster. NRG possesses the experience and aptitude to carry on NA’s successful streak at the top of VALORANT esports.
