Evil Geniuses Confirms New Additions to CSGO Roster
Evil Geniuses has decided to sign Kazakhstani
Evil Geniuses has decided to sign Kazakhstani in-game leader Sanjar “neaLaN” İshakov to take the spot of Jake “Stewie2K” Yip on its main CS GO roster, while bringing on former Copenhagen Flames head coach and esports director Daniel Vorborg to be in charge of this new lineup of players.

The new additions of neaLaN and vorborg had already been reported prior to the official announcement via social media. Vitality rifler Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier was possibly expected to also join Evil Geniuses’ main ranks to replace William “RUSH” Wierzba, but according to HLTV reports, the deal was not accomplished at the last minute because the organization wanted to retain a North American core of three players in order to keep competing in NA’s Regional Major Ranking event, rather than playing in the European instead, which is way much more competitive in this day and age.
With misutaaa out of the transfer deal, Evil Geniuses promoted Jadan “HexT” Postma to play with Timothy “autimatic” Ta and the rest of the newly added lineup. The Canadian rifle main has been playing under the Evil Geniuses banner since June when the organization picked up the previously orgless Carpe Diem roster and the Party Astronauts roster to form a huge ambitious project called Blueprint, in which EG aims to form a somehow rotating 15 man roster for 2023 season.
With the additions of neaLaN and HexT to its main CS:GO squad, EG has locked in the lineup that will attend the BLAST Premier Fall Groups in August, one of the first important tournaments after the summer player break is over. It’s unclear whether HexT, who is unproven at the high echelons of Counter-Strike, will keep playing with the main lineup for the remainder of the season.
All of these Evil Geniuses roster switches were a result of Stewie2K, RUSH, autimatic, Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov having an apawling first half of the year, being left out of qualifying for the PGL Antwerp Major and finishing in last place in almost every tournament they attended through the first half.
Head coach Damien “maLeK” Marcel and his assistant Paolo “EVY” Berbudeau were the first to be replaced in May after the team did not qualify for the Major. A couple of weeks after, Stewie2K faced backlash from the community due to EVY publicly accusing him of unprofessional behavior and having an inadequate attitude toward maLeK, all of this happening in the work environment.
Those previously mentioned issues, in addition to the bad results, made EG replan their approach to CS GO and promote its former head of data science Soham “valens” Chowdhury to director of athletics for CS, a job title that is similar to a general manager.
The Blueprint project is absolutely inspired and hopefully trying to emulate what EG did with its League of Legends section. The organization relied on data and analytics to build the League squad and its practice schedule, while also putting faith in young talents like Jojopyun and Danny.
NeaLaN, HexT, and vorborg will debut under the EG flag at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, which is set to run from August 19th to 28th so make sure to stay tuned in as we’ll be sharing our esports picks!
