Faker’s accolades continue to grow, with one more record added to the list

Incredible international record

T1’s victory against G2 not only secured their place in the Worlds 2024 Knockout stage at Paris, but it also marked a historic milestone in League of Legends competitive history. It also was Faker’s 100th victory at Worlds. He showcased his skills against the European powerhouse, leading T1 in kills and clinching the first match with a clutch triple kill. In a thrilling second game, Faker once again shone on Ahri, teaming up with Zeus to achieve 8 kills each. Ultimately, T1 capitalized on their impressive late game, highlighted by a remarkable Baron steal from Oner, to achieve a 2-0 sweep over Caps and company.

It is rare for any team and even rarer for a player to achieve such a milestone. But for Faker, anything League of Legends related is always possible. As a veteran in the competitive scene, he has only missed Worlds once in his entire career, which left the competitive community in disarray. Most players would stop at that point and look towards a different region to get a better salary, but not Faker. Since then he has qualified to every single Worlds event, including a title back in 2023.

Tough but not impossible

This year has proven to be quite challenging for the Korean side. However, following their initial defeat in the Swiss stage against Top Esports, the team appears to have found their rhythm, securing wins against paiN and BLG, and ultimately delivering the last punch to G2. It was encouraging to witness Faker performing well for T1, with his teammates stepping up right beside him. Given the previous woes regarding the team’s dynamics and Faker’s mental well being over the summer, their recent achievements are a positive development for T1 fans.

Faker’s resolution is bar none, as he not only holds the most international wins, but is also the most adaptable player in League of Legends history. He has played the most champions out of any player alive, which is incredible when you remember he is a mid laner, a role that notably has the most standard meta.

The four time champion’s achievements are further highlighted by his 100th Worlds victory, emphasizing his exceptional status at international play. The nearest contenders to his title fall significantly short. Ruler ranks second with 60 Worlds wins, and Deft has secured 50. All other players have fewer than 50 victories, illustrating that only two individuals in League history have even half of Faker’s total Worlds wins.
